Mark likes to think of himself as a highbrow intellectual (though he doesn't genuinely seem to be into history), but is really into watching Bond films and the like on TV.

She's fairly attractive and she isn't immediately repulsed by him. Mark's self-esteem is low, so that's basically the only criteria he needs
