Isa sa madalas na naitatanong sa akin ay ang kahalagahan ng bms, at kung kung meron naman bms, kailagan pa ba ang active balancer? O di kaya naman ay hindi ba pwedeng active balancer na lang at wala nang bms?
Isa sa pinakamahalagang trabaho ng bms ay ang proteksyon sa over charge at over discharge, kasama na din ang over current na hindi gaanong nabibigyan ng pansin. Hindi ko na ipinaliwanag pa ang ibang trabaho ng bms para mas simple ang video at hindi gaanong humaba. Tinalakay ko lang ang isa sa pinaka importanteng trabaho ng bms, walang iba kundi ang over charge protection. Ang detalye tungkol dito ay maaring gagawan ko ng video na detalyado.

Beginning to get interested with lithium batteries specially lifepo4's. Ganda ng channel mo sir. Parang nagschooling na rin ako. Bagay na bagay sa mga nagsisimula at naghahanap ng kaalaman about these battery systems. Originally naging interested ako dahil gusto Kong bumuo ng lithium battery para sa wheelchair at ebike KO. Good day. Mas safe pa din kung ang voltage ng charger ay angkop sa maximum voltage ng battery bank kung sakaling magloko o bumigay ang BMS.

Good day. Ang bawat pack ay parallel stack ng cells at ang battery bank ay series of paralleled cells. Kung isang parallel lang, ibig sabihin ay 1S lang ang BMS.

Good day. The best to know which bms' amp rate should you use, is this way. Measure the starting current of the motorcycle by using a clamp meter and the result would be your basis in choosing BMS.

May 12v 16.5Ah lifepo4 battery ako. Twice na ako nag dis assy to do bottom balancing. After ko i-assemble uli at i operate, hindi ko mabalance set up ko gamit lng ang BMS.. Subukan ko niyan itong na share niyo na pagamit ng active balancer. Maraming salamat

Very nice tutorial sir. By the way, I have a Daly Bms 16s 48v with blue tooth, does this have balancer? They said it has balancer. I downloaded their app and saw the screen and there’s a switch on the app for balancing but seems it’s off. I’m using Lifepo4 100ah. Do I need to put an active balancer? Where can I purchase it and what kind is your balancer you showed us? My inverter is the HOG 5kva. Thanks

Good day. Yes, I'd recommend adding an active balancer to your setup. I have never relied the balancing function of any BMS for two reasons. First, it has a very small amount of balancing current. Second, the balancing process takes place only when the cells reach 4.15 and up. Compared to active balancer, it has a max of 5-6A balancing current and starts doing its job at 2.5-2.8V. That would definitely help but whether the cells are old, used, or new, if installed with an active balancer, the battery bank performs better than without.

Nero Paulo Zaldivar Good question 👍😊 dapat din etong malinawan ng karamihan. Ang sagot ay, dapat palaging may SCC ang charging side ng battery bank. Dahil kung wala, mas delikado eto kesa walang bms o active balancer. So eto ang setup dapat; SCC (pwm or mppt), battery bank, bms at active balancer. Salamat sa panonood at suporta. God bless 🙏

Hello, I got several questions because I don't understand tagalog: 1. Do you use BMS with passive balancer or non-balancer BMS? 2. If you do, do you connect the BMS's balancer port to the active balancer? 3. Is using BMS even required if you got an active balancer already?

Good day to you 😊 very good questions you got there. I'm sure people who are browsing the comments section will definitely learn something from this. I'll do my best to answer them one by one. Q1. 1. Do you use BMS with a passive balancer or non-balancer BMS? A1. I believe the BMS I used in this video has a passive balance function. Q2. If you do, do you connect the BMS's balancer port to the active balancer? A2. All the balance leads of both BMS and Active Balancer are connected in parallel. Q3. Is using BMS even required if you got an active balancer already? A3. Yes, why? Because BMS and Active Balancer have totally different functions. BMS has overcharge, over-discharge, over-current protection, and even with a balanced function, it isn't just enough for my 200+Ah battery bank. Perhaps, for a smaller one, it could do a decent job. During the charging process, if the packs aren't balanced, the BMS will trigger its over-charge protection for the pack which is ahead of the rest, and during the discharging, it will trigger its over-discharge protection for the pack that drains first to its lowest voltage due to imbalance. And when there's too much current being drawn from the bank, the BMS will simply cut-off the flow of current (if the rate of BMS is right for the bank). Now, if the bank only has an active balancer, it will be without those protections I mentioned. Especially, during the discharging process to avoid being over-discharged, and over-current draw. @@JFLegaspi whoa, such answer deserved my subscription. Also if you are not bothered I would like to ask another following questions: 1. When will the BMS overcharge protection gets triggered? 2. Will it cut power to the battery if such event happened? Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate it. I am currently trying to solar power my RC plane, and I am already eyeing on BQ24650 MPPT controller and the same active balancer you are currently using to charge my 4S 4000mAh LiPo on the fly, but I am still questioning myself if I really need a BMS.

No, I'm not bothered. Not at all and I'm glad you found my replies useful. 😊 👍 Q1. When will the BMS overcharge protection gets triggered? A1. Mostly, a BMS over-charge protection triggers at 4.2 volts and its passive balance triggers at 4.18V, but still, it depends from which manufacturer and model it is. So far, it's what I have actually experienced from all the BMS'es I have used. Q2. Will it cut power to the battery if such event happened? A2. Yes, it will. The whole system will shut down and when it recovers, it will simply turn back on. This happens both ways, during charging and discharging. Note: If your application is for RC planes, I'd like to recommend only having a charger with balance function, like Imax B6, etc. Adding BMS and Active Balancer will simply add more weights to your RC plane. This is only a friendly suggestion as I have been an RC guy for a while too but if weight is not an issue at all, the better setup you'll have. @@JFLegaspi What I am trying to do is to put solar panel on my RC plane so the flight time could be extended, this is why I am worried that when the charge from the solar panel reached 16.8v the BMS is going to cut the power and my plane could come crashing down as the MPPT charger has overcharge feature already.

Good day. 😊 Q1: Ang battery bank na nasa 30Ah pababa ay maaring bms lang na may balance function ang gamitin or kabitan eto ng 1.5A active balancer. Sa mga battery bank na may mas mataas na capacity kesa 30Ah, dapat eto ay may 5 to 6A capacitor type active balancer. Q2: Madalas ay may makikitang bumigay ang fuse wire neto (kung ginamitan ng fuse wire) or may sign of leakage sa may positive side ng cells. Kung walang physical sign, dapat ibaba ang pack at check isa isa ang mga cells. 👍

Sir JF good day po. Ang dream build ko po ay simple lang. Srne 40A snadi/snat 12v1Kw inverter Blue Carbon 12v100ah Sir pano po kung wala po akong background sa pag solder. Ang plano ko lang po ay bumili ng Blue Carbon with BMS sa online shop. Tapos i-plug and play ko lang po sa setup ko. Ang question ko po ay, Masisira ba ang system ko in the long run if hindi ko lagyan ng active balancer? Wala po akong alam sa paghihinang at sa pag bubutingting.. TY po!!

Boss, ano kaya problema tinest ko yung scooter battery kona 36volts, ang reading sa multi tester 30volts, pag charge ko ang reding sa throtle volmeter full charge kaya ayaw mag On pero kapag nakacharge mag On naman

Sir Jf, magtanong po sana ako kung pano po mag set up at pano po malalaman ang tamang gamit ng balancer capacitor para sa 32650 120a each pack 8pcs. At tanong ko na din po kung tama ang ikabit kong daly bms na 8s 24v 100a. Salamat po sana matulungan nyo po ako sa DIY set up na solar.

Good day po 😊 I'm planning to buy two(2) lvtopsun 12v 100ah and connect it into series connection to make it 24v 100ah. Tanong lang po sir prof kung pwede ko na po ba syang direktang i-connect into series? Or, need ko pa po ba ng external na BMS at balancer? Kasi po sir, according sa product description, meron na pong bms at active balancer ang isang lvtopsun 12v 100ah battery. Salamat po

Good day. Mas maganda kung ang bobilhin nyo ay isang battery na 24V kesa dalawang 12V na series connection. Dahil yan sa BMS ng bawat battery. Prone to headache ang dalawang BMS na naka-series. Pwede pa sa BMS naka-parallel, pero series, eventually ay magkakaproblema. 😊👍

Hello, I have installed a 7s active balancer and I need to check one of my battery pack and I was wondering if I should take off the wire for that pack alone or should I take off all.

Good day. 😊 You have to take out the balancer itself if you’re using a luster (quick block) connector.

I series nyo po ang 4 na cells para maging 12V at i-paralle naman ang ibang cells para magdagdag ang capacity. 😊👍
