Here is something I know alot of people ask about, but I have yet to see a video on the subject (I may stand corrected, I personally have just never seen one). Building a spring compressor to modify or cleanup your air rifle, all for about $40 depending on what materials and tools you already have. I have to stress yet again that this a direct reflection of your own skill, no to say I am a professional or anything, but I have 2 diplomas in technical fields and a few years of experience, so I am confident in my own building abilities. If you are not, do not attempt this, if you don't know how to disassemble your gun completely do not attempt this. Not trying to scare anyone, just letting you know there can be serious pressure when you release the lock pin, and serious injury could occur if the correct precautions are not taken. So for those with the proper abilities and tools this is not a very difficult project by any means, and if you follow the directions and think logically you will have no problems. If you have any questions message me and i'll try to help as best i can....

Mine is basically the same but shorter, meant to be used with the barrel removed. Since removing the barrel is only a matter of the one pivot bolt, it's worth the time. Then, I can clean and lube the pivot area upon reassembly. Good vid.

Yeah, I too, prefer the method where the barrel is removed, not like this one where it is subjected to the force pressing against the compression spring. There will always be that doubt in my mind whether this method has bent or altered my barrel somehow. I don't think I could live with that. And yeah, it's so easy to remove the barrel and be given a chance to clean and lube the pivot and retighten the screws.

nice. I was trying to figure out how to make it with steel. But you gave me new ideas, and it seems easier to make in wood.

Anyone who can't understand this compressor and it purpose really will end up getting hurt one day. Yes it can be done without a nice compressor but why take the chances of hurting your self. Slow down cowboys and do a job that you will be proud of down the road. Yes this is simple, and very simple inexpensive way to keep you safe maybe save one of you fingers or keep something from flying into your body and yes could even cause death. I feel this young man has taken a great deal of thought and time to help anyone who needs to work on the air gun. If you can not see the need for this home made produce or a simular unit. Please do your self a favor, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WORK ON YOU OWN AIR GUN!

Hi, I've now watched half a dozen or so of these home made compressors. What is missing from all of them is an actual real demonstration of how to take the spring out of the rifle cylinder, and more importantly, how to get the damn thing back in! It might be simplicity itself to do but not for the likes of me I'm afraid

Very impressive. This is the sharpest looking DIY spring compressor I've seen anywhere! I'm guessing that you probably used a vise to hold the C clamp for cutting and drilling. Thanks for your work.

Good job ! I noticed that the swivel end of the "C" clamp is not centered with the end cap of the rifle is there a reason for this? Since you have the washers as spacers I take it that the misalignment is on purpose ~ why?

Just bought one of these Phantoms today. To "upgrade" the performance, my understanding is to buy one of the repair kits from Eric. To install his kit, will I need to compress and decompress springs?

I believe you are speaking of the end cap, at the end of the compression chamber.......and yes, it should come off.......... I would need to see the gun to know for sure though, if you email me pics I will tell you for sure.......Cheers

what about this idea? put the spring in,place the gun chamber vertically on the floor with spring touching, then get someone to sit on the top via a board.the weight should push the spring in.

Of course you don't NEED one... But it is much easier, faster and much safer with one. I have used this many times, work for most spring power guns. Its better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it... And good luck installing your lock pin and trigger assembly with a "cup type deal" over the back end of the compression tube lol

Yeah it takes a little time and effort, but once you have one, you cant imagine not having one LOL Its just so much safer, its not even worth it to not use one.......Its also seriously about 100X easier to do using a spring compressor, I can take apart, change the piston seal and put back together a phantom in 10-11mins LOL

@psiturbo LOL A Phantom spring (unless you are an idiot) will not cause enough deflection to bend your barrel. I have tuned at least 15 of these guns and never bent a barrel yet. If you bend barrel in a spring compressor you should be looking at your own flawed techniques, as many people use them and not many bend their barrels...maybe your special lol
