She's so raw with her lyrics. Ppl actually overlook the part about her cheating as well. She said she didn't want to hurt bf but she thought it was worth it, just to find out it wasn't. @SCREAMILLUSION6 жыл бұрын
^No. She left her man to be with someone she thought was worth it. Also a BM isn't a relationship lmao. You literally will always be BM and BD to someone you had a kid with, sounding stupid with that... She did fuck up though being in a relationship and doing that, both were messy but the point is she thought the guy was worth the risk/chance. But he was just using her instead. So she lost in all regards. So she's an asshole for cheating but the guy's an asshole for leading her to believe leaving her man would mean they'd be properly together.

After hearing this song for YEARS this is what I got: Verse 1: She's yelling at herself at all her ex's that used her for their needs. She was cheated on and it hurt her to the point where she went to another guy. Verse 2: The new guy and her were really vibing and the sex was amazing. She was enjoying everything until " 'Quis" (I'm guessing Marquis from verse 1) found out. She left Quis for him and the new guy's baby mama caught them together. She was devastated to know that he was cheating on her too. Verse 3: Jhene reveals to us she was in a dark place and deeply sad because her brother was dying. She thought the new guy was her comfort and showed her vulnerability only for him to do the same thing everyone did to her. I'm pretty sure Marquis was cheating on her and she cheated back for revenge, but ended up falling in love with the wrong person.

Revisiting this song after so many years… but really just an observation. I’m glad she called out some of the questions like “why would you call it love when you knew that it wasn’t” “if this is not love than please tell me what was it” at the end of the day, the amount of love that you have for that person pour it into yourself. A unhealed/broken man, even sometimes lacking self awareness, will look for comfort and bury their hurt feelings into women when those unsuspecting women think it’s actually love. Guard your heart and your love ladies! Because that deep hurt, sorry will never be enough because it’s as though they stole a piece of you and threw it into the ocean when it doesn’t work out. Be open to pure love but only after you know and love yourself, and can trust what a man is offering you is intentional and fulfilling.

Been there. Never thought I’d end up dealing with a narcissist. Long story short they are toxic and will put you down and bring you back up just to do it all over again with no remorse or regrets. He saw every flaw he had in himself in me because of his own insecurities and guilt. And that was a part of the cycle. It went from perfect to bad to worst without anything happening. And to top it all off I lost our son at a week old due to his “bad habits “🤷🏾♀️, while for all of six years I was dating him while he was single and chasing everybody else....no matter how much you think someone is there for you always ❤️ yourself first and harder. Luba Makwelo "Pose to Be" has a great dance beat, a subject matter of degrading women, lyrics loved by many of today's young people and the collaboration of 3 (make that 2) of today's hottest artists each with their own very large fan base. I would not be surprised if the song won an award next year.

Such an honest song. You never hear of a woman admitting to cheating. She had someone who loved her. She became interested in someone else. Turns out that relationship was not meant to be. Her dude found out so she had to leave him. In the end she was going through a lot. Making unwise decisions coping with losing a brother.

spoo man people interpret it in a personal way. I love her as an artist so I always listen to her lyrics. Without honesty and good lyricism a song is pointless.

I've actually been told that love is the most irrational feeling. Perhaps we shouldn't strive for feelings of love from someone because it makes us act a fool but we should look for safety and stability in someone first..

@@infiniteepoch8 did you hear the part where she said " I thought you were the one so it was worth it"? They both did wrong, that doesn't mean she doesn't have the right to be hurt. She took a risk because of a lie and ended up losing it all, all at the same time. She made a mistake, that is exactly what she's saying. She also said "really we should have just ended it" and several " I should have never". This song is filled with her emotions and experience, both her own and her cheaters wrongdoing.
@fridaepp35 жыл бұрын
@Joep GTAS and I second that btw
@fridaepp35 жыл бұрын
@@infiniteepoch8 You don't have to feel sorry for her. And she has realised her mistakes, that is what the song is about. You see, when someone makes a mistake but are blissfully unaware of it because they are emotionally unavailable is one thing. But She is aware of her mistakes, she regrets and she owns up to it. This song is part "outrospect" *and* part introspect. That is where the pain lies. Retrospect is one of the most powerful perspectives we have, and she is taking the time to look back and learn from her mistakes and to own up to them. She is facing her mistakes, sharing them with us at the same time as dealing with it privately - that is actually a pretty bold move. She doesn't want us to feel sorry for her, she is simply sharing her pain and her regret. If anything I think she wanted to get it out more than she wanted to create a "piece". If you can't feel sorry for her (which you don't have to) try to see the beauty in that she is actually reflecting over the situation instead of shying away from it. Sorry about the rant it just interests me so I get a bit engaged, but I'm not trying to argue with you or anything so that is clear, I'm just talking about it with you :) (just feel like I have to say it so yiu sont get the wrong idea and get too fired up as people on yt do sometimes)
@fridaepp35 жыл бұрын
I think she did a misjudge of character. She fell in love with someone eccentric then and there because she was hurting and she [may have] thought that the love between them would wash away the pain because it seemed so real, new and exciting that she finally had other things to focus on. But then when he turned out to be a dick, she realised how much of a dick she was too (which she completely missed until that point as she was high/drunk on a fantasy) because she did Keys completely wrong and basically became the same kind of person that screwed her over. I think she is thoroughly ashamed of her actions. In some way she might feel like she got what she deserved, but in a different way I think that is a retrospect thing. Before all this happened, she was in love, she thought she was safe and she moved on from Keys, which often happens in love if someone is not the right one. So even though she betrayed him, she was in a difficult situation too and didn't know how to handle it which made it all a big mess. I think in the moment she thought she deserved "real love" because she didn't feel that with keys anymore so she thought she would get that from this other man. But he ended up being everything she thought she wasn't and then, after it's all too late, she realised that she is the same to Keys that this man is to her. I think that's what made her make the song in the first place, explaining what lead to this point in her life, explaining what hurt, what she thought would happen, what happened and didn't in addition to her own mistakes because she realised she thoroughly screwed up. I don't think she feels bad for cheating on Keys as much as she feels betrayed by herself for making the wrong choices, handling it poorly and making rash decisions which in turn hurt Keys. She definitely feels bad for him, you can hear it in her voice when she says the lines about him, but I think she doesn't feel like she deserves to say that she's sorry or to go more into that subject because she knows he doesn't wanna hear it. She definitely feels like she got what she deserved in retrospect, but more as a consequence of herself handling it poorly rather than because of her being a "cheater". If she would have broken up with Keys, told him what's up and had a real conversation about it that would still hurt but at least he would have felt more respected than he did when e had to find out himself. I think she is ashamed of her actions but I think that feeling speaks louder than getting what she deserved, because in the end everyone deserves true love and for her to be driven to this point shows that she was not Keys' true love in the first place so their relationship was destined to end regardless - the big factor is how it ended which she is definitely mad about. But what was she supposed to do? Stay in a relationship with someone she didn't fully love and deceive him that way instead? Pretend to be a perfect match for him but eat herself up from the inside? I think that in the long run, that would have made her deserve far worse than trying to listen to her heart, even though her heart was making her blind from the reality of the person she was in love with.
@fridaepp35 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I could contribute to your understanding of the complexity of these things :) I think most people in these situations, regardless of gender, have a lot of things leading up to and to deal with regarding these things and I think if we were better at asking people what's going on or putting more thought into these things regardless of what we think of it before we judge we could promote to a more fair and just way of dealing with these things as people who find themselves in these scenarios usually already have a lot of turmoil to deal with. I think the go-to way of dealing with it is often "you got what you deserved/you deserve to get bad karma from this" or "I want to get revenge on you because you should feel as bad as I do" when in reality it's often no need for such harsh and blunt reactions as the person is already going through enough even though we feel like they deserve worse. Often we are blinded by how much it hurts because "they hurt me" without realising that they hurt themselves just as much.
