Came here after tonight's Islam Makhachev's victory against Charles Do Bronx Oliveira in UFC 280... I didn't knew this could choke the opponent. I guess the shoulder part of the opponent's arm ends up choking himself more than your own arm (on the other neck's side). Can this be transitioned to a shoulder breaking move? How would it be called?

yeah this works just like a normal sankaku (triangle choke) but with your arms. And like other person say, its a blood choke.

Interesting to note that his hand grip has open thumbs. I wonder if there will be a difference using a gable grip?

@@merziinarie6266 No, no, sorry for the tone. I know it's a demonstration and it's beautiful video from every angle. I appreciate this form of knowledge. I'm curious of when and where does the technique happen. Is it more a choke or pressure in the face? What, as the offensive person, should be focusing on?

@@rodrigotellom It's a choke but should adjust some detail. Can be done from standing. But mostly, in Kesa-Gatame.

@@rodrigotellom It's arm triangle choke. Doing like Sankaku-Jime (Triangle Choke) but change from legs to arms

not at all, kata-gatame is an Arm triangle choke in a “standar” position. And anaconda is in a “north-south” position

@@dariosebastian117 seated kata gatame is literally the same as anaconda just diff grips. finishing mechanic is the exact same tho. but a standard anaconda is also not done from north south. Itd be front headlock.
