Jianshui is a small city located in the southern part of Yunnan. It is well-known for its rich history and distinctive cultural heritage. Purple pottery, a symbol of Jianshui, is also recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of Yunnan and is considered one of the top four types of Chinese pottery. The fondness for purple pottery stems from the deliciousness of steam pot chicken and the cosiness of pottery tea cups during the chilly winter season. Every piece of purple pottery is a rare gem, showcasing the artistry of clay and fire, as well as the knowledge and heritage passed down by our ancestors.

I so admire these people. They are very passionate, and dedicated and love traditional artworks. Doing art in pottery like that wasn't easy as I tried it before it takes time to master it and it is tiring but when you get used to the technique it becomes exciting and very therapeutic and you will feel your accomplishment very rewarding after all the hard work.

I have a recommended itinerary for your future china trip. Two major destinations: the large shanghai metropolitan area and yunnan province. Book flight to Shanghai, spend a good week checking out Shanghai, Suzhou, nanjing and surrounding traditional canal towns. Then fly to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan, visit Dali city, Lilian, jianshui and other small towns that might interest you. Good luck and have lots of fun!

So beautiful! You must have had a wonderful experience in Jianshu. There is also a traditional pottery village called Bat Trang which is about 300 km from where I live in my country. I have watched many videos about that pottery village but have never been there. Hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to have the same experience of exploring and making pottery as you 🥰🥰
