Yes I agree. She was seen on cctv prior to her arrival at her address but she wasn't physically followed leading up to it. But she had made a phone call discussing her plans to pick up some faxes that had been sent to her address. It would appear to me that the person who knew exactly when and where to find her without physically following her had bugged the phones that she was using. To know her plans without being caught physically following her on CCTV.

Utter nonsense! It's a favourite urban myth that Jill Dando was investigating a secret paedophile ring at the BBC, Jimmy Savile, etc. In fact there's no evidence she was doing any such thing. When she was murdered, Jill was preoccupied with nothing more controversial than her own wedding plans. Jill Dando read the news, she was no hard-nosed investigative journalist. She was as vanilla as they come with her holiday and antique shows. If she was this anti-paedophile crusader, she would hardly have been pals with Cliff Richard, knowing all the rumours that swirled around about him and young boys!

Whoever killed Jill didn't follow her physically as they weren't seen on any of the cctv following her, but they knew the exact place and the exact time of where she was going to be. She had made a phone call discussing plans to pick up some faxes that were sent to her at her home. The person who killed her must have tapped the phone line that she was using to make those calls, that they would know in advance of where she was going to be without physically following her. She was shot in the head but nobody on the street heard a gun shot. This means a specialist bit of kit was used - a silencer. This was an organised hit against her and was likely planned with more than one person. This was not the work of a lone stalker but an organised assassination. A planned hit by an organised group of people with the ability to tap phonelines. She knew something she shouldn't have known.

@jameserskine6886 exactly. I don't know who sent the faxes or what they were about. Not saying it is the case but there is a possibility that the faxes could have been a means to lure her to the location where she would be returning home alone and thus be a prime opportunity to target her.

0:02 I was at the National Television Awards at the Royal Albert Hall that chilly Tuesday night, 27th October 1998, and clearly recall Jill Dando's arrival. All eyes were on her, she looked a million dollars in that glamorous, head-turning red dress. She was with her fiance-to-be Alan Farthing (they announced their engagement on January 31st 1999). She truly glowed, it was clear she was in a wonderful place in her life, happy and successful, both professionally and personally. Jill later presented one of the awards at the huge industry bash hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald. Sitting in the audience I remarked to my friend how spookily similar to Princess Diana she looked. Diana had died the previous year, aged 36. We would never have believed Jill Dando would be killed in an even more violent and horrific way 6 months later, aged 37. Truth really is stranger than fiction. 'It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive', as the saying goes. There's no doubt Jill Dando was travelling hopefully, and the happiest she'd ever been when her life was cruelly stolen from her. Among her hopes for the future were a happy marriage, and children. She gave every indication she'd be a wonderful mother. Her own beloved mum Jean died at 57, after battling leukaemia. Jill was just 24. when she lost her. Mother and daughter both suffered serious health issues in their lives. How her mum must have fretted over the 3-year-old Jill, just a tot when she had life-saving surgery for a hole in her heart and a blocked pulmonary artery. She sailed through the major ops, and was set to enjoy a normal life-span. I guess there's some mercy that her mum never knew of her murder - Jill's poor dad Jack had to suffer that tragedy to the end of his days. Coping with her mother's devastating cancer diagnosis and death, must have been horrendous blows for Jill. She was buried beside her mum in Weston-Super-Mare, and sadly her dad Jack subsequently joined them in 2009. It's devastating to think of the kids she'd have raised with so much love. Children who because of this act of evil, were never born. Which reminds me of another famous quote: 'For of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'It might have been'.

Hard contact execution, Markings on the recovered projectile showed no distinctive suppression device was attached. He had to shoot her at close range if the bullet was emptied of gunpowder, otherwise it wouldn't have penetrated from a distance, also reinforcing the probability of only one bullet. Slamming of gate as he fled the scene denotes an emotional content. Not something I'd expect from an contract killer. Premeditated & personal. It comes across to me as a crime of passion.

The bullet that killed her, 9mm, because the killer was planning to shoot at close range, they could have carefully reduced the charge in the cartridge, less pressure and muzzle velocity so the shot is quieter, and if combined with a suppressor it would drastically reduce the sound.

IF I WAS THE DETECTIVE LEADING THIS INVESTIGATION I WOULD DEDUCE THE FOLLOWING: 1.THERE ARE A NUMBER OF CLUES WHICH POINT TO THE HIGH PROBABILITY THAT SOMEONE VERY CLOSE TO HER, EITHER ORDERED HER KILLING, OR PULLED THE TRIGGER, UNLESS HER PHONE HAD BEEN TAPPED; AND, BY THE WAY, WE CAN DEDUCE THAT, SINCE THE GUN-SHOT WAS NOT HEARD, IT WAS PROBABLY A PROFESSIONAL HIT-JOB USING A PROFESSIONAL-STYLE SILENCER, OTHERWISE, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF OTHER CREDIBLE ALTERNATIVE SUSPECTS OR LEADS, AS OUTLINED BELOW, HOWEVER, IT LOOKS LIKE THE SUSPECT KNEW HER OR WAS TAPPING HER PHONE BECAUSE ONLY A FEW PEOPLE KNEW HER WHEREABOUTS THAT MORNING. JILL'S WHEREABOUTS THAT MORNING WAS ONLY KNOWN BY THOSE CLOSE TO HER INCLUDING HER BOYFRIEND, AND MAYBE, FAMILY MEMBERS, OR IT COULD BE THAT SOMEONE OR AN ORGANISATION WAS TAPPING HER PHONE; AT THAT TIME, JILL WAS LIVING AT HER BOYFRIEND'S HOME AND RARELY CAME HOME TO HER FULHAM HOME, SO SHE HAD SLEPT AT HER BOYFRIEND'S PLACE IN ANOTHER PART OF LONDON; BUT HER OWN HOUSE IN FULHAM, SHE HAD ALREADY TELPHONED SOMEONE CLOSE - i.e. HER BOYFRIEND OR RELATIVE THAT SHE WAS RETURNING TO HER HOME IN FULHAM TO COLLECT SOME FAXES THAT HAD BEEN SENT TO HER. THE CCTV FOOTAGE BEFORE HER ATTACK, DOES NOT SHOW SHE WAS BEING FOLLOWED, SO WHOEVER DID THIS, I CAN DEDUCE THE HIGHLY LIKELYHOOD THAT HER KILLER KNEW HER LOCATION EXACTLY - EITHER BY SOMEONE OR ONE ORGANISATION PHONETAPPING HER, OR BY SOMEONE WHO TOOK HER CALL DIRECTLY, i.e. BY HER BOYFRIEND OF FAMILY MEMBER. 2. I CAN DEDUCE, SHE WAS NOT IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME BECAUSE, TO HER KILLER, HE KNEW EXACTLY WHERE JILL WAS, AND TO HIM, SHE WAS EXACTLY IN THE RIGHT PLACE, NOT NECCESSARILY AT THE RIGHT TIME BECAUSE WITNESSES SAW SOMEONE LURKING AND WAITING FOR SOME TIME BEFORE SHE ARRIVED. ONE THING WE CAN BE SURE OF: JILL WAS NOT, AS HER OWN BROTHER TESTIFIED TO, IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME BECAUSE: WHO WOULD EVER SAY, "SHE IS IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME" WHEN SHE IS STANDING OUTSIDE HER HOME? SO, JILL'S BROTHER'S WORDS BEGGARS DISBELIEF. 3. ALSO, SINCE JILL PARKED DIRECTLY OUTSIDE HER HOME - A SHORT WALK TO HER FRONTDOOR - WE CAN DEDUCE THAT HER KILLER HAD BEEN WAITING FOR HER, RATHER THAN FOLLOWING HER. 4. OTHERWISE, THE ALTERNATIVE SUSPECT: IF JILL WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INVESTIGATION EXPOSING A CHILD PEDOPHILE RING, THIS KILLING OF JILL WAS EITHER BECAUSE SHE KNEW TOO MUCH ABOUT THE BBC OR OTHER PERPETRATORS IN THE BRITISH ESTABLISHMENT - OR ELSE - THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE RESULT OF A FORMER LOVER OR CURRENT, i.e. A LOVER'S REVENGE. 5. THE ALTERNATIVE SUSPECT COULD BE BY ANOTHER CREDIBLE LEAD WHICH WAS FROM A CONVICTED KILLER WHO SENT A LETTER STATING HE KNEW WHO KILLED JILL, WHO SAID HE HAD BEEN PART OF AN I.R.A. CELL. 6. OTHERWISE, HER KILLING WAS A RETRIBUTION FOR 17 JOURNALISTS KILLED IN A SERBIAN T.V. NEWS OUTLET IN THE BALKANS. ESPECIALLY, WHEN WE CONSIDER THAT THE BULLET FOUND AT THE CRIME-SCENE HAD BEEN TAMPERED WITH BY SOMEONE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF FIREARMS, i.e. WHICH PEOPLE IN THE BALKANS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO PURCHASE SUCH TAMPERED-WITH BULLETS FROM RUSSIA. 7. FOR RETRIBUTION BY CRIMINALS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS FOR HER WORK IN GATHERING EVIDENCE TO CONVICT THEM AS A CRIMEWATCH PRESENTER. It is obvious Mr. Barry George doesn’t fit the profile of Jill's killer, and it is also obvious that the METROPOLITAN POLICE have revealed themselves, again, deeply wanting, and deeply flawed in regard to Mr. Hamish Campbell investigation of Jill Dando's death. If I had been in his shoes, one of the major leads I would have pursued was the I.R.A. lead - number 5 suspect above, of the convicted killer who had served time in prison who said he knew who killed Jill Dando, and who said that he was part of an I.R.A. cell. And also, Jill's fellow work collegue on her Holiday programme - a lady said that she and Jill had both received a letter from a man who said he was going to abduct and rape them, but the lady said that she was never even interviewed or contacted by the MET. POLICE as a fellow working collegue, let alone in connection with those two letters. That shows a deep imcompetence and flaw in Mr. Hamish Campbell's investigation. WHAT IS CLEAR IS THE MET OFFICE AHD MR. HAMISH CAMPBELL HIMSELF FELT UNDER DEEP AND PUBLIC PRESSURE TO PUT BARRY GEORGE INTO THE FRAME OF THE KILLER TO STOP THE EMBARRASSMENT, BUT THE RESULT IS, BOTH THE CURRENT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS AND THE METROLITAN POLICE LOOK EVEN MORE IN AN EMBARRASING POSITION. AS MARK, HERE, REVEALS IN THIS INTERVIEW, THE CURRENT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PERSECUTIONS LIED BY SAYING THERE WERE NO CRIME PROFILING DONE ON THIS CASE AFTER BARRY GEORGE'S ARREST. DID THESE DEDUCTIONS EVER CROSS ANYONE ELSE'S MIND? PLEASE COMMENT.

I'm shocked at her brother's dispassionate dismissal that this murder was simply 'wrong place, wrong time'! He categorises his interest in the crime as a Journalist first, then as a member of the public before putting 'as a relative' last. Disgusting person. We're told the gun was a reactivated firearm. How could they tell this considering it's meant to be impossible to reactivate a deactivated firearm. Who owned the deactivated firearm? Why was it deactivated in the first place? Given the timeline from the neighbour, the murderer must have been with in feet of Miss Dando to be able to carry out the murder as described here. Regardless of the mis-direction of this video, this was not the work of an opportunist or a spurned stalker, this was most definitely an assassination. And it was not carried out by a foreign power or a gangland Kingpin. A lot of people know exactly who and why.

It was To the day she tried on her wedding dress at Harrods previously weeks ago. Left there in her door way with her engagement ring 💍 on display for Helen doble to see . The killer even closed her gate. According to a witness Barry Lindsey who was strangely omitted from the enquiry stated she was seen arguing with a man . This for me rules out a contract killer , and may explain this as a crime of passion . Including the 40 seconds it took her to reach her doorway from setting her car alarm .

Exactly. Savile made several comments about murder throughout his life that we all saw as jokes back in the day. One notable was on a chat show when he commented “nobody wants to die young” when questioned about people interfering with him. Add these to the constant hints he made about child abuse and the fact that a lot of what he said turned out to be clever confessions on air I definitely believe there was truth to this. If you look into Savile and the 9th circle there are several claims that he was involved in the grooming and murders of young boys abducted from a jersey children’s home on the former Tory prime minister Edward Heaths boat. We probably know about 40% of what Savile really got up to

Barry George did it. Anyone who says hitman. Nonsense. They have a book or documentary to sell. What hitman doesn't have a getaway car. She was at her door about to turn the key lock to open the door. The killer then struck. Anyone trained would have pushed inside at that moment then closed the door to muffle any sound. BG was stalking her. He regularly stalked women. He would walk behind them and try to engage them in conversation. He lived at that time only 10min walk from where she lived. Three years before he was arrested in the grounds of Kensington Palace. In his bag the police found a knife, a balaclava facemask, abseiling equipment and what he said was a poem he had written. 2 weeks before she was killed. There was numerous accounts of people seeing a man in a suit waiting around the streets near to her home. I believe he was waiting for her. With the gun on him. She lived with her boyfriend in a place in Chiswick at the time. Hence why he had to wait at the end of her road waiting for her.

On BBC World here in sunny Japan he was shown in hospital meeting the Queen, and saying he wasn’t sure if he’d ever dance again. He must have done an impressive quickstep to land a prestigious job teaching dance at Cambridge University. Hope his partner was similarly included. The far more important point, not mentioned (why am I not surprised?), was that when interviewed by his local Cambridge newspaper, he explained that the bomb was underneath the train, evidenced by shards of the carriage floor being blown upwards. His dance partner and a police officer confirmed this, the officer saying: “Watch out for that hole in the floor, sir. That’s where the bomb was.” You must surely realise the significance of this. They probably didn't know for sure, even if Jill Dando was personally targeted. The assassin may have lingered outside her home a few times before, and on that fateful day got lucky. She had visited that Gowan Avenue address 2 days before her murder, without incident. That Saturday, she found her fax machine was running out of ink (she lived at her fiance's home, and used her own house primarily as an office). That was her reason for returning on Monday - to sort out the fax machine. Hardly an earth-shattering event she'd have mentioned to anyone but her partner. Her brother journalist Nigel Dando believes her killing was an against-the-odds, random event that may not even have been connected with her fame. It's an interesting theory, and if true would explain why it's unsolved.

A great pity indeed that crucial evidence was erased/ tainted by people who rushed to try and help Jill; while undoubtedly a big problem for investigation team it must be quite common in urban shootings and surely successful convictions can still result? Revenge or stalker killing seems the most likely given Jill's job, but her poor family must be as sick as most sane people are with theories about Establishment cover-up.

From Day one, once I heard the details of her murder, I was convinced, that this was a retalitary murder. And as eventually, details about the type of weapon and usage, came to light. And the fact that the Bullet used, had been skillfully alterd, to reduce the sound of it being Fired . HOW ? by removing some of the gun powder inside. This reduced the noise, but meant that the bullet velocity, would be reduced too. This explains the Gun muzzle being pressed against her head. Who was responsible ? A SERBIAN trained hitman. WHY ? because , the Bulkan war was still raging, and British planes had bombed the Capitol, hitting their TV broadcasting Studios, killing several staff, including their top, most popular news reader, a attractive young woman, like Jill. When this suggestion was put by many others, to British security, it was dissmissed by them as highly unlikely, as the Serbians hadn't the ability to introduce such professional groups into Britain, without their knowledge. Like the IRA didn't ??

in that case police would had records of it as usually guns are tested and checked if they match to any open crime evidence.

Looks like the brother doesn't want the truth, he just wants closure in the easiest way possible. Hard to imagine Jill Dando had so many enemies - but then, she was a public figure who represented strong ethical values; and some people don't like that kind of integrity. I am reminded of another famous unsolved crime - the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, where also a male doctor was at the periphery of the case. What is it about male doctors and heinous crimes

It sounds to me that either an oddball stalker/killer was responsible, or it was a revenge killing for somebody who was convicted through her Crimewatch activities. This one will probably remain a mystery unless somebody “squeals”. It is difficult to believe that somebody can be shot in broad daylight, and that nobody heard a shot, or saw the murderer escaping..🤷🏼‍♂️

Was there no CCTV from the surrounding area that the police could of used? I guess this is in the days before everyone had a door bell cam. This has always seemed like a case the police never really wanted to solve for one reason or another. Her brothers theory of a motiveless crime seems pretty dubious imo. I guess there is a possibility a random gunman could of happened upon Jill simply by chance but I would of thought the odds were pretty slim. Ive always felt it was someone close to her, or someone who knew her movements, as the property in Fulham where she was shot was rarely used by Jill.

used to live in Fulham 1996 to 2003, and trust me I remember In 1997. There was tons and tons of CCTV around that whole area, when I heard of that dude that was seen running from the scene, I was like oh, they will get him, because there is at least 20 or so CCTV cameras in that area, those cameras were all set up because of the football team and it's games especially with Millwall, this area was rich, so I wonder to this day. Why and what happened to all those cctv evidence, something is dodgy about this case, also we all knew Barry, he okay guy, used to come into the fried chicken shop, that man was disabled, we all knew he didn't do it. Lol😊,

@@shazanali692 Hmm, never realized that about the Fulham football ground being so close. Checked it on Google maps and yes its like a couple of streets away from Gowan Avenue. There are busy streets like Fulham Palace road just off Gowan Avenue to, this was the late 90's after all, so a lot of CCTV should of been available? I wonder if her employer had anything to do with it?, I mean the BBC, that is one shady organization imo, who were obviously covering up the crimes of Jimmy Savile / Rolf Harris etc. You would feel her employer could keep pretty close tabs on her.

I'm fascinated that Jill's Brother thinks she was just unfortunate that she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time it's always baffled me I genuinely think it's to do with the crimewatch programme and it was premeditated that the person / person's cos even tho it was only 1 man there could be more and ( 100% more likely to be more than 1 person behind it I think he's a hitman I mean of all the people to be in the wrong place at the wrong time a successfull news reporter TV presenter it just dosnt happen like that I think he was expert at being a hit man chose his timing wisely also did it with great precision as making sure there was no gunshot heard it was a very deliberate killing of the exact person intended cos I mean how how if it was meant to be killing of any random female or a possible intended burglary gone wrong still look at all the murders over the years committed on innocent women there not on there own doorstep how do you just randomly choose to kill a female on her own doorstep in broad daylight and it just so happens to be Jill Dando the reporter who appeals on Crimewatch of all people how can you totally not see she was a deliberate target 1000 over and over % how rest in peace Jill x 🌹

Most likely and sensible conclusion is mistaken identity. The killer f**cked up, it happens. I'd have been looking at women around the same age and similar looking in the area. Especially any going through a divorce from someone important or very rich. Did they check on everyone flying out of Lindon that day or the next. The gun is in the Thames. Hamish refusing to acknowledge BG's innocence is very petty.

To me, the closed gate is very significant. Humans act as much on instinct as thought-out behaviour, particularly at times of high emotion. When someone has just committed murder, that person is likely to leave clues, even when they believe they've committed the perfect crime. I believe the killer closed the gate because he did that by instinct; he'd been to that property a number of times, and always closed the gate on leaving. This otherwise seems such an odd thing to do, when one has just committed murder. To my mind, this case is a fairly obvious one, but - like in the case of MP Cyril Smith - the police were probably ordered from higher up the chain of command, "Kill it!" And - like former policemen who spoke out - they were never informed why the case against Smith was dropped. Savile was still alive when Jill was killed - and I feel confident that this was the issue the case revolved around. We saw years later how reluctant the BBC were to reveal the dirt on Savile. One has to ask.... "Why?"
@tomdicker6222
@tomdicker6222 Ай бұрын
OR....the gate was already closed by Jill out of habit as she arrived home.I believe the killer was possibly waiting INSIDE her house.This could explain why cctv didnt show her to have been followed ,and how the killer was already there when Jill arrived home unscheduled.As she went to open the door ,the waiting killer opened her door ,grabbed her right arm(causing the bruise found on her right forearm)pulled her forward and down, off balance,simultaneously pressed the gun to her left temple and shot her. The killer would simply have to close the door and make his escape through the back door OR if it was the neighbour he could have been waiting for Jill to arrive,simply step over the low front wall shoot her and hastily retreat back into his house to dispose of evidence.Then wait til her body to be discovered by passers -by then come out and give his discription of the "killer" thus throwing police off his scent.
