As someone who had two years of art history in college and the son of a watercolorists who has work on permanent display in a main county building in Portland, OR., you've done a magnificent job of giving a brief synopsis of the evolution of watercolor painting in different techniques and media. It had to be difficult keeping your choices of artists and specific paintings to so few. This is the first video of yours I've watched but, I will be subscribing and watching more, for sure. I want to add one more thing to my comment, and that is to say your narration, especially your voice, is very beautiful to listen to. You have a very natural speaking voice that invites you to listen and enjoy what you are saying unlike most educational speakers and narrators. I could use your voice for my business voicemail recording and my business would probably increase tenfold just from your voice answering my phone.

I teach watercolor along with the history of watercolor. One of the important aspects to watercolor is the invention of paper and later tube watercolors. I wished you had included Kandinsky. Overall, I enjoyed what you covered, your voice and the pacing of the presentation. Good job!

Thanks, great video. W. Trust Richards painting is amazing. Reminds me Hans Gude, another 19th century painter, from Norway. His work worthy to be include in here. Actually Renaissance was named after the rediscover of ancient greek art (sculptures and architecture), and the wish of putting man in focus center. Perspective in painting is one of the ways to transcribe this will too. Thanks again for good work.

I have enjoyed both of your videos on watercolors. But you left out Maurice Prendergast, John Marin, and Georgia O'Keefe, all of whom were innovators in this medium. You may want to do a video just on those 3 artists.

First off, I have SO enjoyed your videos. But I really can't believe you left off John Marin from your timeline. I'm baffled seriously given the importance of his watercolors.

You made a very trying day a little less so

I never ever liked anything by Charles Burchfield... from the 1st time I saw one of his works when I was only 19 to this very day... the only thing his stuff does for me is make me a tad ill. I don't see where he had any mastery for the medium at all. I think to include him in this video does a disservice to all the great watercolorists that you omitted... Cotman, Turner, Eakins just to name a few off the top of my head.

Very good presentation, but extremely subjective and unanalytical . It can be the foundation to produce a scholarly documentary on watercolor. A question should be answered: why paint with watercolour like it is oil? When I see a watercolour painting I expect it to look like it was d one with that medium. It seems to be a waste of time and paint to use watercolour liked oil paint.
