Jimmy Eat World

3 жыл бұрын

Mini Dives are a sporadically published series where Jim gets into the weeds with his process.
In this “Mini Dive” I talk about the origins of the music for “Surviving”, from the album “Surviving”. And embracing prepositions in description copy.

I am a fan of Jimmy Eat World since ... 2009/ 2010, sth like that. Im 30, so your music is with me for a half of my life. That is just amazing. Like literally everything you guys do, either its a piece of music, or a Jim's podcast, or mini dive series, or Jim's solo work a few years ago - it just imidietly puts a smile on my face. If i had to describe why I'm so passionate about your music it's kinda like - when I put my headphones on and blast your music, it teleports me to the most beautiful places of my inner world. Its exactly like that. I listen to lots and lots of music, but guys, your work has always been so ... Special. Just special. Its kinda funny, but when I listen to Jim's podcasts or mini dives it just gives a feeling of chatting about music stuff with a good old friend. Looking forward to your European tour, a bit of shame that you won't be playing in Poland this year, but I will try to make it to the Amsterdam gig. Love you guys so, so much, stay safe, and stay amazing ❤

Does Jim do his own editing for these videos? because it seems like he is, and it seems he's having too much fun with it. I love it, keep up the content!

Pass the Baby next. I need to know behind the scenes on that song. It’s the song I show to people who think they know what JEW is and look at me strange when I say is my favorite band.

To anyone without live drum capabilities there are many plugins that give you these type of options. Logic Pro X comes with some built in drummers, Kontakt and Output also have these type of options! They can easily help you get grab a vibe.

The Angel and the One by Weezer is another great example of one big crescendo of a song. The same riff is used throughout the whole song and slowly builds into this massive climax.

Yazan Ahmad The Red Album just frustrates me. Like it has amazing ideas and has some of Weezer’s best songs on it. It also has terrible ideas and some of their worst songs on it.

@@VarynDEE33t credit to Rivers for giving the rest of the band a go at it for singing their songs, but how much better is that album if their 3 songs are dropped and some of the excellent b-sides are included instead?

Massive congrats to you guys on this album Jim and the JEW crew. Like everyone, Bleed American completely changed the game, then Futures was an album that my mates and I played to death when we were 18. Futures really spoke to me personally and I think the songs and album as a whole is a masterpiece. The 4 follow up LP's had some stand out moments but Surviving seems to have rekindled some kind of spark and energy from the Futures years. Great hooks, great production and a really diverse range of dynamics and structures while still keep the Jimmy Eat World stamp on it! Killer album fellas
