Diamond is by far the best track on Surviving and that album is full of gold takes. It just has this very truthful and relatable lyrics, flawless instrumentals. I love it!

The chorus on this tune and a couple of others on this album, remind me of a Rush vibe from their 90s stuff. That urgency mixed with exhilaration with the higher harmonies. And that key modulation.

Diamond is my favorite song from Surviving right behind Recommit. The first time I listened through Surviving I started crying (happy tears) at Diamond because I was so amazed and grateful of how wonderful the whole album was to that point - and still had the rest of the album to enjoy as well. Looking forward to more mini dives!

Man, I love these. Just a genuine, honest and unpretentious look into something. And speaking as someone who doesn't have any background in or understanding of song writing, it's a joyous feeling to be able to realise "oh, so that's why I like that part of that song so much"

“It’s never going to be the middle”. I dunno, I’ve kind of thought of this as the sequel or next logical extension or whatever after the middle. Or maybe the middles geeky older brother? Seriously underrated track in my opinion and one of my favorites on this album. Thanks for the dive!

These videos are so great. I'm in a touring alt-folk duo based in Truth or Consequences, NM, & your music was so instrumental (no pun intended) in my development as a performer, vocalist, & writer. These peeks into the session files & your relationship with the creative process is so refreshing. Thank you for taking the time to make them!

It's so cool to see the "behind the scenes" with things, especially when it's your favourite band! I actually kinda low-key was feeling the bridge--I feel like it gave me old-school JEW vibes--but I get that it is a bit wordy and see why it was axed. Thanks for doing this!

2:42, that part when Jim talks about motivation to DO THINGS, omg, he speaks the true, it just works that way. You can't be motivated and focused on everything all the time. But the moment you realize you're wasting your time being lazy, miserable fuck just gets you on your feet, you look in the mirror, you tell yourself - 'yes, you fucked it up, it happens '. And you're trying again. Thank you Jim for being my motivation guru 😂

Love these so much! It's amazing to get a behind the scenes look at how my favorite band makes the music I love! One interesting thing I've noticed is that a lot of the tracks look like the are seriously clipping. Is this something that's done on purpose? I've been learning to produce my own music over the last couple of years, and I was under the impression that having your tracks clip like that would cause the world to end or something. Obviously now seeing that your tracks are that way I know that's not the case, so I'd just love to know if there is actually an advantage to doing that or if it just doesn't matter.
