Was always one of my favorites all time. I wish Jim Brunzell would do more interviews, podcasts, telling these stories from back in the day. Honestly he’s one of the best story tellers, and interviewers in Wrestling. He’s seen it all, wrestled every major wrestler in the sport his whole career, wrestled in Japan, and has such a likable personality...

I’m from Minneapolis and I love the old memories of the AWA. And it’s great to see Jim Brunzell . But whoever took the video is badly in need of a tripod.

I suppose it is fitting to have Jumping Jim Brunzell filmed with a jumping camera! Oh well, it's worth it to hear Jim talk about the High Flyers and other matches.

When the AWA was in Winnipeg, I attended a wrestling card almost every month before WWF/E came here in 1988. The AWA briefly came back in 1988 also, along with the NWA, but it wasn't what I knew it to be. The AWA was a great wrestling league. It probably would have survived if they put the belt on Hogan, who was a top draw in the early 80's.

Most people don't understand the context of the time that Greg Gagne wrestled in. Back then, a beautiful dropkick was like doing a beautiful moonsault today. And guys didn't bump much back then, particularly babyfaces (the rings were hard as concrete). Greg Gagne was a heckuva worker in the ring. The only thing about him was his physique was the shits. But, it didn't matter because he was over in the AWA due to his lineage. I never really got Verne and why he was so over, but he was and so was Greg. To claim Greg was boring in the ring is just a lack of understanding of wrestling at the time.

Verne was a legend in Minnesota sports having played football and wrestled for the University of Minnesota. He was a NCAA national champion multiple times and played professionally for the Green Bay Packers. With his being an alternate on the 1948 Olympic team and a hand to hand combat instructor in the Marine Corps during WW2 and many other accolades the older generation felt a certain close fondness for old Verne. So as he got older and his opponents got bigger stronger and younger Verne seemed more vulnerable and this then became the great drama of his matches. Can Verne hang on one more time? Are we still the greatest generation? That's why people loved him and felt his pain in the ring. Because we were getting older too! But we wanted to keep fighting. So next time you watch a Verne Gagne match imagine him as your dad or even grandpa trying to show the cocky bad living heels some fricking respect!

It’s ironic because it is usually Greg Gagne patting himself on the back, not others lauding him.

Funny story from "Jumping" Jim😂 Nick Bockwinkel deserved to be NWA world 🌎 champ. The same as a Flair or Race or Rhodes would. But that schedule being AWA & NWA champ wasn't possible. Flair could've just as easily been AWA champ it & would be exciting. They were all great champions.👍🏆

Rick Martell put a wrench in that. That's why Jim Crockett made that world title that existed for 30 years and made Flair look like a god and everyone wanted it around their waist even Triple H.

Would loved to have had wrestling set aside their politics and have a “World Champion Tournament” of Nick Bockwinkle, Ric Flair, Harley Race, and Bruno Sammartino compete in a Final Four event....

Greg gets alot of flak, but as a kid in the early 80s I totally believed he belonged...I just thought he was a technical wrestler who was all about wrestling and not gimmicks. it never occurred to me he didn't belong in the ring
