Jim Butcher's Question and Answer section from his stop in Austin, Texas on his tour for Brief Cases. The cans at the end are beer from Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock, I'm the projectionist there. It's not McAnally's but it's micro brewed!

I disagree with Jim about Harry's second choice. He'd give himself to the fallen before he sacrificed a good chunk of Chicago's population for necromantic power.

Jason Brough I'm pretty sure that Harry would find a way to pull off a Dark Hallow without killing anyone living. The people dieing near one is the result of a the ritual, not the source of it's power. The power bestowed on the caster of the ritual comes from the spirits of the dead it consumes. I can see Harry going back to Chicken Pizza (spelling intended) and gathering up the spirits there or to some ancient burial ground in the middle of nowhere. Remember that he already used necromancy once while managing not to break one of the laws when he raised Sue the T-Rex, I can totally see him trying to follow the spirit while breaking the word of the law if he felt he had to, to save his daughter.

Matt Cannon The Halloween thing was so that Cowl could take the Erlking's power. Halloween guaranteed that he'd be present, as well as mortal. Halloween isn't necessary to perform the ritual however.
