Jim, how do you like the tweed Princeton in relation to your others? I have the tweed and love it, but have never played any other Princeton models. Do you still crank the bass to 10 on the 12” speaker?

This vid was in my feed because I just posted a couple versions of this song. My process is figure out as much as possible by ear and then look at fake books for the rest. I was having trouble figuring out what came after the E7. I thought it was an Am. But F6 to G7 to G#dim and then Am sounds pretty good. Got from fake book. Did not like changes offered by iReal Pro for that section. Jim is a solid dude with a lot of experience. I hope he sings in performance because he has a good voice. When he plays the guitar you can hear the musicality in it. Great sound.

My Spotify just let me know the top 2 artists I've listened to this year are Jim Campilongo and Merle Travis. I think on KZfaq it would definitely be 1. Jim. Love your music, love your lessons. I hope to see you play live one day. Hi from The Netherlands 👋

Hey Jim, So the way you generously share this practical info is invaluable. My instinct is to play way too many chords; to see someone with your experience 'break-it-down' this way shines a light on my process. Massively instructive. Thanks!

thnx for this jim. i bumped into u way back when u were first in nyc. u were sitting at the bar of brunch place on a sunday morning north of union square if memory serves. It may have been the place you mentioned and i remember there may have been live jazz-maybe a guitar trio?? and we struck up a great jazz-guitar conversation-i don’t remember if u were there to play or just hanging out. anyhow, when u mentioned that gig the memory popped into my head. thanks for the explanation regarding the tags on the amps-i noticed guthrie trapp has similar tags. that explains that! now, about that tele headstock?? wth??

Interesting, I like how you simplify this tune. The G7 sounds great. Do you ever just play E7 with the 5the in the bass where the G7 would be? It sounds good to me, but maybe the G7 would be better so that you don't end up hearing the E7 twice in the first few bars.

Hey Jim , Nice Premier in the background ! I have a similiar one , Like a Twin with two 12'"s .. Also a matching guitar with the same colors .. Been sitting around my house about 35 years .. A lady gave it to me after I did some painting for her .. She bought it for her son in '64, '65 after that whole Beatle thing ... Is it worth anything or are they just some oddball pieces ? Thanks Jimmy ...

Fantastic lessson mr. Campilongo. I hope so much you feel ok in covis times. I want to take part of your awesome work a bunch of years. But i have one question if you king enough, what wouls you do if your 59 is stolen or broken or anything like that? I mean it must be a desaster. Your play on of your cs or hahn axes and moving on? I hope so... Btw i realized that many good musicians just known for having one guitar in rotation. You, Brian May and his red special, nelson witv trigger, anna calvi and her 1994 tele and many others. How you can get this happines? For me, everytlme fender release a new strat i have to have it....

I get asked this frequently and I'm not sure why folks assume I'm selling amps... Anyway, the tags have my name to avoid confusion at shows where there might be more then one Princeton. This has happened... and most importantly, the tags have the speaker type (Celestion, stock Jensen etc). This comes in handy when picking the right Princeton for the job. This is especially helpful when the amp has a Tuki cover.
