I think HHH deserves a lot of credit for everything he has done, but he also deserves blame on stale title reigns, not enough new stars being made. This decision was not nearly as difficult as it sounds. The fact that they brought Cody back, even though the circumstances are different, tells you this was a possibility right from the start. If he fell flat in AEW they wouldn’t resign. But he is still a draw and it’s about $$$$. Plus this gives them an opportunity to bring back AJ Lee, maybe injecting something into the women’s division it needs. Rhea is way overdone, and the women’s division itself is just meh right now.

The best part is during that sit-down Punk absolutely told Triple H everything about how the whole Elite situation went down and Triple H must have agreed with his side of the story since he signed him. WWE also has 3 updates on how the top level chaos in AEW is going thanks to Cody, Regal and Punk and Tony still has no idea what is going on with the behind the scenes of the WWE. The Bucks finally killed the business and it's the one they are supposed to be EVPs of.

It's notable, that The Elite had a golden opportunity to do reality based angle with CM Punk.. it would have been massive in terms of attention, and it could have been an opportunity for them to really work on the story and character work in wrestling, and promos, if they had the balls to go there. If they were successful, they could have reinvented themselves, and gotten a higher profile because, again, fans would have tuned in. That ship has sailed, and they are always going to be niche because they won't learn and grow

THIS. The Elite really fumbled this with Tony Khan. TK should have looked at it and realized he wouldn't have to spend his own money to keep AEW afloat now. Matt & Nick Jackson should have been given an ultimatum - work with CM Punk, make AEW money, or TK can find some new EVPs. Now Tony Khan will blow through his inheritance just to not even halfway draw fans to their shows on Wednesday/Friday/Saturday. But oh he has Will Ospreay and Adam Copeland (until Ospreay and Copeland decides they don't want to be there and entertain an offer with WWE).

Out of everyone involved in this situation, from AEW to WWE, Triple H is the one who comes out of this smelling like a rose the most. He set a shining example for how a boss and executive should treat and handle talent that they've had heat with. Whatever one wants to say about H's ego, he has the emotional maturity and the leadership skills to let bygones be bygones, bury the hatchet and let a stupid beef go. That's something that Tony and his EVPs will never be able to because they operate with the emotional intelligence of 10 year olds. Triple H knew that he held Punk's legacy and redemption in his hands and he could've easily squashed any hope of ending his career in the big leagues on a positive note. And instead of sabotaging it because of old heat, he chose to do the opposite. That's some of the most real man alpha male king shit I've ever seen. My respect for H was already sky high but now its up in outer space. Well done, sir. You're a real one and a true leader. #therealbookeroftheyear

Ospreay is good, but he's not well known outside the tiny group of wrestling hardcore fans who follow Japan. A lot of potential, but given how AEW is, he won't be a star. Probably end up having similar issues with Jungle Jack and the Bucks. The general public has no idea who he is, hell outside of the hardcore fans wrestling fans don't know who he is. AEW has a 0% batting average for handling potential stars. See Starks, Hobbs, Wardlow, Punk, Rhodes, MJF, Pillman Jr, Cargill... no reason to expect Ospreay will have any chance in AEW.

2 years ago, Cody being back in WWE was unthinkable, nobody thought that was even remotely possible. CM Punk being back in WWE? The world has definitely skewed into a different timeline somewhere because damn. AEW's 2 biggest problems are booking and managing their talent. Jay White was the biggest free agent earlier in the year, they have done nothing with him. They have done an even worse job booking their main event scene than WWE has. While the marks are celebrating them signing Will Ospreay, which I'll admit is a big get for AEW, I have absolutely no faith in how they will use him, as they have dropped the ball on 90% of the big names they have acquired.

The EVPs had their feelings hurt bc they went to jump CM Punk and got beat up. They were butthurt over it and instead of turning it into money, they acted like children. The moment we've all been waiting for. Big thanks to Tony Khan, Jake Perry, The Elite, and the "AEW Disicple Committee" for making this happen. RAW is about to get the biggest rating boost it's had in years. Every TV station now will be throwing money at WWE for the TV rights for RAW. Yes, I do feel WWE didn't need Punk, but they are going to know how to use him. The picture of HHH and Punk together broke the dirt sheets, as they have spent the last two days crying like spoiled children, at the fact WWE worked the fuck out of them. No one knew this was happening and Meltzer, SRS, Fightful, and everyone are losing their minds. It's gotten so bad they honestly think Seth and Punk are going to get in a backstage brawl, instead of setting up one of the biggest matches for the Rumble or Mania. Of course, the dirt sheet also thinks Drew stormed off angry because of Punk. They are so fucking gullible. Tony Khan, The Elite, and Meltzer all need a wellness check after the beating WWE is about to give them. I as honestly feel that Punk has one chance at this, if he fucks up he is done, so the ball is in court, but I don't see it happening.
