When I was a teenager in the 90's I watched terrible shows like Baywatch and music videos for terrible pop acts solely to catch a look at attractive ladies in skimpy outfits. But I didn't have the internet back then. This was the era when a friend of a friend getting ahold of an issue of Playboy was the holy grail. Nobody has any reason these days to sit through a bad TV show to check out hot babes and only a geezer like Vince McMahon, who probably has called it the "internets" a few times by mistake, would think otherwise. And the whole thing is kind of funny because if you're resorting to this then don't you KNOW that your show is otherwise the shits? If you know that why not try to FIX it, rather than hope to swindle some viewers into watching to catch a glimpse of some good looking women?

But you can't Deny that last week. Mandy Rose's Segment drew the highest number of viewers on the show. So there is the 18-25 demographic of young males. Myself included. Who like to watch attractive women on a tv show. Without having them do anything sexual. Not every young guy watches p*rn. Plus wrestling is a part of show business and attractive women have always been a part of Showbiz. So it doesn't hurt to have hot women, who can actually wrestle. And Mandy Rose is undeniably a really good wrestler, and a highly charismatic athlete as well. Aside from her being drop-dead gorgeous.

People say Vince is out of touch and are completely right. A lot of the same people say the same about Jim but it's not the Same thing. Jim believes in old School territory days NWA style Wrestling brands and promos. For a developmental brand working with really fresh talent his style of booking and teaching would serve any talent with the potential to be big greatly once they were ready to move on. There's enough mainstream Wrestling brands for the different tastes of fans and enough places for wrestlers to work thankfully. If I had the money to start up a new brand I've thought of it being a developmental brand but not to raise wrestlers for any one federation in particular but a scouting federation for them all to come and check out and for the reasons above Cornette is one of the first people I would attempt to bring in to help with it.

It's really sad what's happened to NXT. I remember NXT in its infancy (between the OVW/FCW days and its recent peak) when it was this corny gameshow, pairing "amateurs" with "pros" in the hopes the "amateurs" would be granted a WWE contract. Like Tough Enough 2.0, minus the Tough. And when I found out that Triple H had taken NXT and improved it to such a degree that it had a roster of talent so amazing that it basically shed the "developmental" label and turned it into its own brand that was really impressing a lot of people, I was delighted to watch it and see it grow! And to see it turned into a 3rd brand, and unceremoniously wrested from Triple H's grip, with most, if not all, the really valuable talent released, or booked so poorly that they don't want to renew their contracts...is a real shame.

There was nothing actually wrong with it when Cole and UE was on top. It was the whole “we’re not competing even though we actually are,” that brought it down. And that’s not to say that there shows weren’t initially good, it was that Vince put these ridiculous demands pitting their C show against a brand new Wrestling promotion’s ONLY show at the time, with a more wealthy owner, a TV Deal, and a roster full of wrestlers, new and old. It was just idiotic to think you’d “win” this. If they simply aired on a different day from the beginning and looked at it as another TV revenue stream, producing young talent then things would’ve gone much differently. Developmental is a process that takes years. You don't want a bunch of guys who are still trying to learn to wrestle and sell on tv or even at the point that they start trying to development and experiment with gimmicks. You want the formative years out the way have the guys who are getting ready for TV to build them up. Then when they succeed on NXT bring them up to the main roster. It's how it was suppose to work. Or, in keeping with the minor league baseball analogy: having talent play, improve their fielding and hitting, start crushing homeruns and making a name for themselves, building their confidence... then calling them up to the bigs to make them ride pine while wearing a string bikini with an old-school hockey mask instead of their uniform, then tell them they aren't performing and cut them in a year.

Thing is wrestling is different. The "territories" are no more, and you travel indies and ply your trade. Thing about that is people learn terrible habits that take years to break. At least with NXT and this, they're on TV learning a TV style instead of spamming flips and super kicks and just general fake looking shit. Only downside is in NXT they train everyone the same way. Perhaps it's on talent to watch film and try new shit off camera in the PC.

Devil’s advocate. Maybe in these social media aware days, the talent who eventually become stars don’t need a lengthy development anymore. Orton and Cena were better as OVW rookies than main roster NXT 2.0 “talent” according to Jim. And Breaker is clearly a future star so early on. Why would WWE spend money on coddling hundreds of sub par talent for a few years to hopefully mould a future star when it seems the actual future stars were always great from the beginning.
@juliotorres3147

@@juliotorres3147 Ready for some critical thinking then? Haha relax mate, it’s just meant to be a bit of fun sharing opinions and no sweat if you see things differently. Yes, because social media has made people more conscious of things like public perception, personal image, crowd psychology, body language and posing, editing, broad casting an interpretable message, competing for attention, cultivating and curating a public persona, etc. Things that help contribute to making a “star’ famous. Not to mention every internet fan now knows more about the secret world of wrestling than ever before. Young Orton and Cena’s generation would have had to be taught all that, is my point. And I do admit there are some examples of slowly built stars but people with the ‘X factor’ it’s pretty apparent of their charisma early on. So why should WWE pay to up keep an entire ‘developmental system’ that employs and promotes 50 Cameron Grimes caliber talents when you can already see who the one actual potential star of the whole roster is? Just for fun, Name one high caliber wrestling star who wasn’t solid early?

While i don't particularly like the new NXT from what I've seen I'll say there is a branch of the "smart" fans now that actually enjoys seeing talent go from green to stars and it was NXT's original selling point (post "game show" era). These smart fans love to overpraise guys "potential" more than they care about their lack of ability currently and almost see themselves as scouts and want to watch guys and gals develop in to what they will become later on the main roster (if they make it that far). They are essentially wrestling hipsters to some extent who will say on reddit years later "I remember this guy when he was on NXT just blah blah blah , look at him now" and basically brag about how they saw the potential in them way back when. In their mind they get some sort of bragging rights over other fans basically being able to say they saw a guy first. I also think in general the average wrestling fan (since most of them are hardcore "smart" fans and very very few casuals exist except kids now) are intrinsically more forgiving of green people when they debut and won't hold it against them their entire careers and in fact look forward to guys improving and "figuring it out". I think Osmos is a great example , he's greener than asparagus but he gets a pass from every WWE fan/viewer I know and is actually almost unanimously praised by them for his "potential" rather than his lack of acumen.
