Not since Bobby Eaton’s passing has Cornette shown so much emotion. Much respect to Jim for doing this. You can tell it’s tearing him apart like the rest of us.

So true! You can tell by both his tone of voice and the words he chooses to use that Corny would much rather wait longer to talk about either of these tragedies (First Bobby Eaton, and now Jay Briscoe, who at 38 seems like a baby still to me at 45) But like Jim has said before about Beautiful Bobby, either he had to get through it while it's a fresh topic, or just give up on podcasting as he'd end up missing covering big wrestling stories. I just feel so bad for Corny (of course I feel awful about Jay, and I feel terrible for his remaining family, especially his wife and brother and those poor kids who lost their dad far too young AND have to deal with serious injuries of their own) but I feel bad for Corny because he seems to really be torn up but is so professional and works while experiencing the kind of emotional pain that I just know would cripple me. I remember telling my wife between Christmas and New Year, after learning that one of her old school friends lost her husband and the lady was preparing to give the eulogy... I told my wife that there would be no chance in hell that I'd be able to keep it together long enough to speak for ten seconds, let alone give a g'ddamed speech about my dead wife, or kid, or good friend, or what have you, at all-- let alone while right at the beginning of the grieving process...

If you can reach out to the Pugh family please let them know how beloved Jay was all over the world. I have wrestling fan friends in every continent Ive lived in and we're all devastated by his passing. From little towns in Japan and outback Australia to the beautiful mess that is Mexico city, throughout the heart of South American countries such as Argentina, Brazill, Chile and Peru to Pretoria in South Africa and all the way north again to Berlin. We all admired Jay and his contributions to the wrestling business. He'll never be forgotten by us either.

Coming from a guy that never met them or anything like that, they touched alot of people with stories of their kindness and how much they meant to our community both in wrestling and geographically. It really is amazing how they touched people they havent even met or dont even know.

Jamin/Jay lived 20 mins away from us in a small town in Laurel and nobody besides us wrestling fans really knew how big the Briscoes really were. Mark and Jamin were known as the good ole country bros and WIDELY loved in the community, absolutely fantastic people and the community is still mourning. Complete shock...Jim has got me laying here in tears. This man would drive by peoples homes and offer to cut their grass for 30$ because he did landscaping on the side in the summer. I promise you this, this man was unforgettable around here. Not one person had a bad word to say about Jamin Pugh aka Jay Briscoe.

RIP Jay Briscoe. The impact he had on the guys of this generation is absolutely epic. From FTR, Adam Cole, Seth Rollins, Eddie Kingston, Kevin Owens, new day Sami, and yes even the Bucks is profound. One of the last truly believable acts in wrestling, cause it wasn’t truly an act. Thoughts and prayers to his family. My only hope is that everyone with issues in wrestling business can see this as an example that. These guys (their rivals, opponents) aren’t gonna be around forever , someone could be taken away in an instant. And that it helps mend some fences and we get the business we truly deserve. That the Bucks truly value FTR now cause they need them. Thank you Jay.

I don’t care what influence Jay might have had on them, it wasn’t enough for them to speak up for him. When did Adam cole or the bucks ever tweet out to the world “the Briscoes should not be defined by old tweets and they should be on aew dynamite”. They stayed silent to keep getting paid, instead of rocking the boat and risking their jobs. If the Briscoes meant so much to all these guys they would have been in their corner when it counted.

Since Bobby passed, Jim's been a lot more empathetic (less just insulting those he doesn't like, and more offering critique to improve) to AEW and everyone else he doesn't like. I hated listening to Jim talk about Bobby's passing because it was painful to hear him speak so saddened. He's such a wealth of knowledge and stories, and while his promos cutting someone down are hilarious, the empathy Jim's shown lately is rough because we're used to Jim the character and podcaster and not Jim the person who's lost friends and people he respected.

As a father, this is my 2nd worst fear, after losing my child himself, I dread to think about me being taken away from him under such young and sudden circumstances. My heart goes out to his family but especially his kids. Hopefully at the very least the girls make a full recovery because that family must be broken hearted enough as it is right now. Never watched the brothers, but the outpouring of love for them with the news of his passing speaks louder than words about what kind of man he was. Thoughts with the girls and the family.

On first hearing the news, before I knew more about the circumstances of the accident and the injuries sustained by Jamin's poor daughters, my initial immediate thought was for Mark, and my heart just broke for him. Atm I have no kids yet, but I do have beloved siblings I'm close to in a rural family, and I think it would devastate a part of me forever if one were taken in this way, let alone so young and suddenly. Mark's grief and pain and sorrow and anger right now must be beyond imagining.

@@pendafen7405 in my first accident my one and only real vivid memory, was my then time at the wife who was pregnant with my third daughter at the time pulled up. I'll never forget not being able to feel anything, but the tears rolling down my cheeks as I yelled to her "I'ma be ok" when in my head I'm thinking I'll probably never see my daughter born. She was in such distress when she pulled up she hardly put the car in park as it rolled, as I hear the sounds of a helicopter off in the distance..as I black out, in and out. I'd never wish a situation like this or mine on anybody. It's rough.

This death has hit me hard. The Briscoes were part of that 03-06 period of indy wrestling that got me back into the industry after the WWE product at that time destroyed my love for wrestling. I have a soft spot in my heart for that period. We lost a great wrestler and more importantly a loving father who was driving with his children. FTR vs The Briscoes made me realize why I love this industry. We have memories of what was and sadness at what could have been. Thank you for everything Jay.

The thing I’ve learned over the past few years is you’re not alone, there are people that listen and care, don’t fight the pain alone. ❤

Pretty low to blame the woman, when we do not know what happened. A similar accident happened in my town, involving a beloved musician. He was the driver crossing over, killing a 20 year old in the process. A shitload of people blamed him, autopsy later proved he had a heart attack and it was not his fault. And the exact same thing happened another time, luckily the guy in this case hit a wall, and there was somebody to give him first aid, realizing what is happening.

Jim is correct in describing the rural nature of the accident scene. I lived in Delmarva in 1975, attended Millsboro's Sussex Central Jr. High, and am familiar with the area. Lots of cornfields, but the land is empty at this time. It'll never be determined the actual cause of why the woman veered into the opposite lane, but it's possible she was sharply avoiding an animal crossing and not the automatic supposition of cell phone use. Either way, a senseless accident.

I was honestly shocked and awestruck by the news that Jay had passed away kinda like when I first saw the news regarding Brodie Lee. Even if you weren't a fan of the Jay or the Briscoes. The outpouring amount of support and tributes from so many wrestlers should instantly tell you how good of a person he was and you have to respect him for that. One last thing, all this happened on right before Mark Briscoes birthday. If there is one person who I feel the most sorry for in the world its him. I can't imagine the pain of losing your brother right before your birthday.
