I remember when Mox debut on AEW I was so excited because I was a big fan of the shield and to me Mox was the stand out of that group. I thought he could be a mix of Brian Pillman and Stone Cold if he was allowed to. I just knew he was going to take AEW to new heights (I mean the night Mox debut punk was also rumored to be debuting and the people were satisfied with just Mox so that let’s you know what level he was on then) I was telling all my friends Vince was holding him back but NOW we are about to see the birth of a new stone cold. And his first few feuds and matches where good almost great (the Kenny omega lights out match was a tell of what was to come but at the time I thought he just wanted to go big in his first big time match with the new company and it didn’t come off right) but then he just kept making terrible decisions in his matches and in the feuds altogether. When he first got to AEW I thought they should hot shot him straight to the title but by the time he actually won I could have cared less. It’s sad seeing these guys you thought Vince was holding back turns out was actually helping them hide some of the garbage ideas. I still can’t stomach to watch the garbage wwe puts out now days but man Moxs career is so disappointing thinking about what he could be if he stopped all this mud show tendencies

Absoutely true. THey announced his return to GCW before he returned on AEW. And, the Hardy Boyz are accepting indy bookings various places, at least 2 I've seen so far, and they're retweeting it and putting that out there. So, when Jeff shows up on AEW, it is already known that they're out there together and AEW gets sloppy seconds. Time to stand up to the talent and remind them that they are paid the most to be on this national brand and that the indy feds shouldn't get first dibs. It is stunning that has to be said. But, because everyone is so nice and no one has the guts to be mean and tell the boys no.,..... Ugh. Such high hopes for AEW.... And, it is run like a video game.

He's doing the opposite of what Vince did. Vince backstabbed promoters and refused to ever help them or do business with them "for the most part". I honestly feel bad for the guy. As someone who has dealt with certain substance issues, it’s goddamn tough. However, who can really look at Moxs current situation and think he is in a better place now than he would’ve been taking a million per year contract as Ambrose? He got his amazing creative control, got to wrestle his super hardcore matches...... and was promptly driven into a giant bender for a year. Sometimes, for some people, structure is GOOD. I’m absolutely positive they told him that on his recent vacation. I wish the best for him and his family, but recently kicking a fan out for yelling “call the garbage truck and get him out the ring!” doesn’t really fill me with confidence.

Jim's problem is that he's living in the 1980s. Back then, guys didn't want to be "indy" wrestlers. They wanted to wrestle for the NWA or WWF, depending on what style worked for them and who was offering the big money. For the last 20 years, WWE has been the only game in town and if you're an actual pro wrestler as opposed to sports entertainer who wants to be known for that, the Indies are the only places you can go. WWE in the last 20 years has been almost unwatchable with a few exceptions. Anyone who cares about wrestling is just working there for the money, but if their heart is with wrestling, it's in the Indies. Until AEW, there's been no real, viable, big budget wrestling promotion for the last 20 years. I don't know why Jim is dumped on the Indies more than WWE. It's not the Indies that destroyed wrestling. It's the WWE that created a business model where you either conform to whatever crap they're putting on this week or wrestle in a more boring, even lower budget version of Eastern Championship Wrestling. In the territory days, guys (and girls) would be properly trained for the business and how to wrestle in that Greco-Roman style properly. Now, with the exception of guys like Punk and Danielson, almost all of the top technical wrestlers do the Lucha and Japanese styles. As a result, very few of the guys who do mat wrestling are being trained properly in how to sell, take bumps and do the moves safely without hurting yourself or the other person you're working with. Pillman Jr would know, because he was trained by Lance Storm. But guys like Moxley didn't really have that. It was the Indies or WWE, and if I'm a wrestler who cares about wrestling, I'm taking the Indies over the WWE every day of the week, because WWE is about uninspired, giant cartoon characters who can't wrestle. Considering what we've had to deal with for the last 20 years, I don't know why Jim is so critical of AEW. Yes, they're far from perfect and they still do a lot of stupid, sports entertainment type things, but after all the crap since mid-2001, AEW is a breath of fresh air. At least they give you good quality wrestling about half the time. WWE can't even do that 1% of the time.

@@fingersTitan I have to disagree about music. Music was always about "me me me" because the people that were pushed were all entertainers. The radio got to decide who got famous and they told you what to like. This has been going on for so long, that even Elvis Castello wrote about it in his 1978 song. While the radio has gotten worse since then, there are so many other ways of finding music now such as Spotify, SoundCloud, and youtube that allows more artists to find an audience without relying on the radio. Now there are plenty of famous artists that are well known amongst youth culture and music lovers (people that can appreciate all genres, not just a couple) that have never been played on the radio just because they weren't as marketable or too expiremental for the top 40.

My favorite promo of his was that aftermath of that money in the bank title ladder match he lost to Seth Rollins. Dusty just died during that time, and the promo was a homage to the hard Times promo.☺️

For someone that has no clue how the company is run you sure do have a lot of opinions on how the company is run. He said he'd let his wrestlers work independent shows as well as his one day a week he needs them for. I went to Newark NJ show the other day and saw Dark dynamite and rampage in the same day. So what are these wrestlers supposed to do the other 6 days of the week? They could be making money so why not let them especially if it brings more fans to your product (go to GCW website and it states Jon moxley is GCW world champion and signed to AEW with a link). I love this podcast but I've noticed you have a very get-off-my-lawn type attitude when it comes to the wrestling business evolving. If it's not your brand of wrestling it's wrong lol open your mind a bit it might make you live longer. He legit LOVES working indies and wants to work them so why put it down. Should he be waving a racket around to get the approval? Whhhhaaattttever

Honestly though I would guess that the Moxley situation was probably a little more complex than how it is being discussed here. Still a mistake by Tony, but Moxley is the GCW champion, I would assume that it is not that easy to deny their champion showing up on a big show. Also it is interesting that Tony approves this, but there are reports of him denying Danielson's request to wrestle for a promotion on the West Coast in a market that AEW hasn't been yet. I think that Tony does have some discretion at least.
@JackgarPrime

Yeah I think it's gotta be a complicated situation. AEW seems to have a good working relationship with GCW, so this may be part of a larger series of agreements between them.
