If the Halloween Havoc angle happened, it would have worked for them two okay enough. They probably hoped by that point that Russo would be out of the picture for being insufferable. Oops. It's too bad Bischoff didn't ask Hogan for that extra lawsuit money to buy WCW from WCW.

One of his streams the other day he was saying: "I know my audience bro. I'm not targeting the Smarks and the dirtsheets bro, I'm here for the Casual fans who wanna learn a bit more about people who were in the business, bro" Legitimately he said that. I will give him credit though, he did get talent over. He keeled two companies over, but he helped create characters.

These fools (Bischoff, Russo and Hogan) destroyed a company, cost so many people their jobs and hurt the entire wrestling industry all because of their selfishness, ego, greed and incompetence. The worst part about Russo's booking in WCW is that he didn't realize, by having the commentators say things like "we didn't go over that in production meetings" or "that wasn't on the format sheet", it makes it look more scripted and preplanned, showing it's not a shoot, and it was supposed to happen that way.😂

He just told you his booking method was crash TV, the Jerry Springer approach. So it doesn't surprise me one bit. But I will say if it wasn't for him, I don't Think Booker T would have ever been looked at as a main event guy because let's face it as long as Hogan was in that company. He was going to be world champion for as long as he was in that company off and on what I found profoundly about this whole entire story is that if Hogan really wanted to make somebody he could have made either Jeff Jarrett or Booker T.

As it was happening, Sunny Ono filed a lawsuit and seemingly overnight, Stevie Ray was a commentator and Booker T was about to become Champion. It didn’t have nearly as much to do with Russo as Russo claims. Jarrett was Russo’s guy. And Jarrett had no business having the belt in the first place. Hogan did pull his trump card, but he lied for years about it being the first time he did it (Hogan is the biggest liar. Russo is just the most delusional and Bischoff is the typical BS business man who starts to believe his own BS), though he did do more good than Cornette will ever give him credit for.

Russo never lost it, either. He gave it up, just like McMahon did the year before. If that doesn't tell you everything about his ego, nothing else will.

as a teenager who grew up during the late 90s boom...you would flip back and forth between USA and TNT...and whatever held your attention is where you stayed...this was THE catalyst (the whole program - any time Russo was on TV) that got the channel turned to USA and you had no intention of flipping back to see what they were doing on TNT...

The only thing I'll give Vince Russo any type of credit for is that he generally tried to push guys that wouldn't have gotten a break with anybody else booking,can you imagine Booker t's career If he never won a world title in WCW?he would have never probably have been a hall of famer as a singles guy.

14:10 Hogan may have gotten mixed reactions, but he didn’t bomb. Business instantly improved and his main event with Flair at BATB 94 did a monster buyrate.
@WarGhoulKharas
@WarGhoulKharas 10 ай бұрын
But then for the next two years, it bottomed out. You can't honestly say that the Macho/Hogan going over 15 guys in a triple cage or Hogan vs The Butcher at Starrcade 94 were monstrous hits. Business didn't pick up again until Flair/Macho in early 1996. Then came The Outsiders angle. But Hogan always left strategically when he knew the ratings would suffer against both sports pre-emptment and MNF drops. Ergo, he could then argue that he was the reason they faltered or drew (as in the Goldberg Georgia Dome match, which was originally going to be non-televised).

Same for ratings going down under Russo, didn't happen, sully lost a whole point in the ratings, Russo got it back, was fired and sully was put back in and he lost it again. Sullivan somehow skates free in these conversations but some of his booking made Russo look like Martin Scorcese. Who remembers THE DOG... good lord.
