I live in California but, I lived in a farming/ranching community in Wyoming for several years. I went to work for the local bank as the assistant to Vice President of Agricultural loans. I loved how alot of the transactions were done over the phone until the farmer/rancher could get in to sign the paperwork. It was an amazing community and something I had never seen in California. This podcast brought back those pleasant memories.

Where I worked, near to Melton Mowbray (which still has a large livestock market very close the town centre) there remains to this day an unloading ramp to take store cattle off railway wagons and spaces for holding pens. Cattle were watered in the river close by and allowed to rest and graze in nearby pastures before being walked to buyers farms up and down the Vale of Belvoir or the nearby Welland Valley which were alleged to have the best grazing pastures in the UK. Most of these were sold fat at local weekly auctions in the area in the autumn and early winter. Many of these cattle were brought over from Ireland to Liverpool and then loaded on the railway for despatch to farms for summer grazing.

Fascinating podcast again, so interesting to hear how the markets work. Especially loved hearing about the history from the 4th generation of the family business. 👏👌💕

Great job on the intro and outro Iona. You have such a pleasant voice and smile. Cammie you were so quiet and so careful of how you phrased your questions! Not sure if it was respect or fear of having Wendy come after you 😉Really good balance on this one.
