Jim, Lenny Henry lived near me. When he was on the cusp of becoming Famous he would trawl round the local Pubs. making a nuisance of hisself. disrupting Pub league games even interrupting couples who were trying to talk. One Friday night some time ago he came back to Dudley his home town to visit his Mother. He was in the Chippie, being his usual obnoxious self.playing to the customers in the shop. He came out with a "joke" about weed being so strong now it makes white men think they can dance. I shut him down by saying, it also makes black men think they are comedians. Us Whites on our guilt trip have been donating money to supply water in Africa, since the early 1960s. 60 years Billions of White £££s to make no difference at all. Had it made a difference. Would we still need these appeals ?? Mugabe proved the point about Africa. He kicked the White Farmers off the land, where they were employing Black workers, and paying them a wage, It was not megabucks but it was a living. Mugabe gave the land back to the natives, in a very short time the land had reverted back to jungle. The former workers now had no jobs and no money because they were too dumb to make it work.

As a blackman who was born here and is of Ethiopian origin I totally disagree with Lenny and Lammy. As a child growing up I was properly heart warmed by the fact so many cared so much for a far away land of people who had nothing to do with them and helped out.

Have been helping Africans out of the goodness of our hearts for many years. What a slap in the face, a big slap. I suppose I'm not at all surprised. Basically sums up all suspicions about certain attitudes towards we Brits. Good to hear someone say it as it is Jim.

A family member of mine went to Africa … he had just left school family paid for him,for his flights and to support him … he worked and helped in a school …. He said Africa is ruined …if they see a white face you pay… you go to dinner with the teachers you pay your white, you go out with the kids you pay your white …no one ever picked up a bill out there, he came home after a few months thoroughly fed up he came to the conclusion these people don’t want to learnt to fish or a fishing rod they are more than happy with handouts …. In the start of Red Nose Day, funny people made loads of money, by mixing old and new (at the time) material for the charity and it was great to see so many of them working together but now when it's been switched to Sports relief, it's just a excuse to show people trying to twist someone's arm to get fit and sneakily fat shame kids and the disabled to join in with so called celebs who do a bit of athletics, not too many laughs there. As for Children in Need, that's got worse since everyone is scared of the virus hasn't been good since Sir Terry Wogan passed away, CIN gives us a odd mix of various things, nothing like proper variety, most of it is a dodgy version of Britain's got talent. Hate to be a Telly Addict type Dino, but not everyone wants a indoor Glastonbury type event with people who are desperate for any reason for screen time and to sell albums to up their chart position cos the record company said it would be good publicity.

@@Nige031077 always seemed a bit weird to me to make entertainment out of real life misery. One of the running themes about live aid was how good queen were and it gave their falling career a boost but it was hatd to forget that it was about people dying of starvation. Never bought the DVD. Never wanted to watch it again because I just find it so bizarre that people profit from this. Schindlers list was the same. Great message and all that about a German who strived to save lives but as a piece of entertainment? It's hardly enjoyable so not really entertainment unless you're a sadist
