Jim is a true gentleman. Never heard him say a negative word about others, he just intentionally advoids it. Always calm. And has helped so many artists , especially Kenny. He stands out in the music community as a pillar that could be relied on.

Dam right Jim. Poco was a hellava good band live. Jim Messina is truely a rock legend and one of the nicest and most grounded individuals I've ever heard interview. I see why he was so successful in his career. I want to buy him a beer just to sit and talk to him cause I get the impression he's a genuine caring human being who doesn't have ill will toward anybody. A rarity in this day and age. Thank you Jim for convincing Ritchie to form a new band and to have the good sense to know a great peddle-steel guitar player when you heard one.

To this day, I am wowed and inspired when I hear Jim Messina play his strat. His tone and musicianship are just the best. I feel sorry, in fact, for younger people who are deprived of that sound. For his part, I still think Kenny Loggins is the greatest male vocalist of his generation, and he is no slacker at songwriting (soundtrack King) and guitar playing. He definitely has it all.

Growing up in high school when Loggins and Messina’s Sittin In album came out, I idolized them. Love Buffalo Springfield and Poco still to this day. Great interview, thanks for sharing!

I saw Loggins and Messina in Asbury Park NJ in about the mid seventies and I have never heard a better band. It has been said these guys were born to play together and it was evident that night for sure !

Saw them in Fresno just after their live album was released. Great show. Wouldn't say the best I've ever seen but right up there. They definitely had the house rockin' that night.

Love the Jim messina guitar info. I'm 65 and my dad bought me a brand new Stella in 1969 when I was twelve.my former guitar hero were old blues players but Jim Messina has been my favorite since my brother brought back a loggins and Messina tape from Vietnam in 1972 and I heard "Angry Eyes" .I wore many copies out over the years. Some day I'm gonna get lucky enough to see him live and get his autograph I swear

For some odd reason, Poco is the only band I've followed since the 70's I haven't seen live. Seems every time they were nearby I'd have some reason I couldn't go see the show. I've enjoyed all the various musicians in the group over the years. I actually thought they would outsell & be a bigger band than the Eagles in the long run(no pun intended).....Richie & Jim have always been two of my favorite musicians. Guess I need to put Poco on my bucket list at this point.

I love some of the songs of Poco, buffalo Springfield and loggins and messina. I wasn't born when buffalo springfield were making hits back in the late 1960s, come to think of it, I still wasn't born when loggins and messina was around! Jim messina is very handsome back in his heydays. Pure gentleman too.
