People like Stephen are my favourite kind. They are religious & go to church every Sunday, but keep it a personal thing rather than an agenda. Respect atheists & people of other religions with the same respect as they want for their own. Believes in the institution of marriage in the truest way, but never see unmarried or same sex couples as lesser than himself. Religious people who don't suffer from insecurities of losing or harbour a superiority complex are the best kind. I'm an atheist and it's compassionate people like Stephen who make me respect the certain goods of religion.

S L I am an atheist who married into an intensely religious southern baptist family. My grandfather in law is a retired baptist preacher. They judge me constantly bc I'm not religious. I also live in the south and am surrounded by those types you described, the hateful pushy "christians" who claim to be christian but only so far as it suits them. There's an argument going on here bc a high school was told to stop saying prayers over the PA before football games, and yesterday a guy wrote up this post using G.D., cussing ppl out, saying he'd put his foot in the ass of whoever complained about "his right to pray." The very definition of hypocrisy. That type of behavior from so-called christians is what turned me away from religion. People like stephen are refreshing in how they acknowledge their religion without being bigots or shoving it down people's throats.

S L Yep, it's great when people have some kinda faith and belief, but also respect other religions and more importantly atheists ( which I am ), makes conversations much easier and meaningful, and these people don't get on your nerves with constant religious BS and extreme irrational ideas. They listen to you and agree with you, but also maintain their views, which makes you wanna respect theirs. But, all that said, it's definitely not always the case, try talking to Muslims and Hindus! They're are so uneducated and irrational, superstitious and arrogant... Won't admit to any scientific or rational idea, for them everything is an act of God, every aspect of life, every event is God's will... Lol! Not every religion is liberal, most of them are disgusting nonsense. If you ask me, only Christian and Buddhist religions are modern and liberal, and hence respectable, Muslim and Hindu religions are just hilarious and insufferable.

This just shows the degradation of society. Considering it is something that doesn’t make sense, biologically, scientifically, and morally wrong is accepted in this day and age of society. This is the same as for example, cannibalism. For some race(maybe religion, not sure) cannibalism is considered normal and a custom of these people. Does it make it right? No it doesn’t. Just imagine what will be passed down from this to the next generation. Interspecies sexual relationships? People marrying animals and having sex with them? There are probably a bunch of porn videos already of these. The next step in this degraded society would be to accept it. And to quote the comment by LTown8365 that might come not so far in the future: “He got married to an animal, and no one died. Hell didn’t freeze over”

I know it's two years old but for the occasional passersby I would like to mention there are LGBTQ+ Christians (who don't try to repress who they are) and many Christians who don't view being gay as a sin at all. You are.. the biggest jackass. I have met over 80 (!!!) unfaithful husbands during my time as a youth and young adults counselor. But it's their parents who confess to their infidelity. Without breaking confidentiality (my KZfaq handle isn't my real name), 70-80% of those men (and women) were professed Christians. You do not know the sanctity of marriage, hetero or not, until you are listening to a man married 42 years to a woman he has cheated on with multiple women. It's strange to me, when I consider the actual history of marriage. What once was a basic exchange of property is now viewed as divinely ordained. Perhaps, a better way to understand your homophobia (which isn't truly a fear of, but a lack of desired knowledge, respect, or compassion) is simple: Christian marriage involves a faith based connection where both parties are subservient and 'spiritually' minded. Marriage, in a much more lateral sense, is a union between two people. Did your partner's parents give you a dowry or a large financial offering once married equal to your partner's perceived worth? No? Then your definition of marriage falters. Judge not lest ye be judged is not a direct call to condemn those around you. In a Christlike perspective, your judgement is a sign you try to equate yourself with god. Which, if I'm not totally off base, puts you in league with Satan. Which I assume you, as a preachy Christian on KZfaq, do not want.

Sheldon's comments about love and his marriage do not have anything to do with the "sanctity of marriage" as God intends it. He is a nice guy but his homosexual marriage is not the standard for marriage. Sorry. God specifically warns use thru His word that people that practice these lifestyles shall not inherit the kingdom. It is a warning that most don't heed. So when they reap the consequences of their actions it fully rests on their shoulders... Hope God reveals truth to him and his partner. And to you as well. Jesus is at the center of our existence. @@eyescandeceive he did a recent one with Olivia Wilde where he asked her a bunch of borderline sexist questions about her supposed “fued” with Florence Pugh, which Wilde deflected, and then he turned around and lamented how sad it is how women directors and actors get asked sexist questions like that but not men. It was a bit hypocritical…

I never thought I'd say this, but it's testament to Jim's prowess as an actor that what seems to be a genuinely lovely person can convincingly portray such an unlikeable, irredeemable character as Sheldon.
@aesthera.

rockchapelboy92 I disagree that Sheldon is an unlikeable, irredeemable character. Sure, he thinks differently and behaves abnormally but he's shown that he is a very sensitive and compassionate individual. I think it makes perfect sense for Jim to play him.
@crystalrage
@crystalrage 6 жыл бұрын
Sheldon is many people's favorite character and he resonates with quite a few more intellectual people out there. Even if it's just a look at this guy he is nerdier than you are so feel better you're not alone type of thing. The only bad part was when he didn't like physics during the one interview. That is the strange part, portraying someone with such a deep love for something that you hate.
@rockchapelboy92
@rockchapelboy92 6 жыл бұрын
It's not his nerdiness or peculiar behaviour that make him irredeemable. His pettiness, childishness, manipulative nature and mysogony definitely do. The occasional token scenes showing him being compassionate do not erase the character's fundamental flaws.

Irredeemable? Harsh. It is acceptable in our society to indulge & sometimes overlook the peculiar idiosyncrasies of our geniuses, no matter their field of expertise. There is an expression: don't stifle genius. When I see the Sheldon character, I imagine a high functioning autistic savant who simply lacks our puerile & subtle interpersonal skills. It's not their fault that you might get your feelings hurt about some nicety you feel you've been unjustly denied, while they are busy untangling the cosmos for the betterment of all. When in the presence of true greatness, we are all reduced to being mere supporting characters

Late show talks seem to get more unscripted. I felt like Colberts talks were so real in the first few months he was on air and then over time it unfortunately turned more into the traditional talkshow chat. But the last couple of weeks it's going into a more natural way again. I love this!
