Jim Ratcliffe has explained Manchester United's new transfer policy INEOS will adopt, how he wants to sign the next Kylian Mbappe and discussed in detail his overall vision for the future of Old Trafford and how he sees football developing as a fan experience.
Still find it weird we've got an owner who actually speaks in public, feels like a novelty.

What do you think about the shift in transfer policy Jim Ratcliffe has explained as well as his overall vision of there being far more than just a stadium for Manchester United fans with the surrounding areas?

Transfer policy is irrelevant when you have an abrasive manager like ETH who can't keep his team happy. Get the right person as manager first and then figure out the strategy and personnel requirements. Same as any other business really.

Shareholders have rights but they don't run the day to day operations,they merely give management objectives and then its management's prerogative on how they are going to achieve those stated objectives. The biggest crook was that Ed "The Investment banker Crook" Woodward. All the assets he bought depreciated over their useful lives. I don't know of any player he bought that sold for more afterwards. The last players to go for premium was maybe Cr7 ,Van Nistelrooy?

I'm in total agreement with Sir Jim regarding transfers & that he's basically saying don't expect us to sign anymore superstar names. I'm all for this change in policy in fact it's music to my ears cos let's be honest over the last 10+ years we've signed so many big names gave them massive wages for very little in return to the point we've crippled ourselves. I'd much rather us recruit in a far more smart efficient manner whilst making our youth the platform for future success. Regarding building a new stadium it'll work our better in the long term cos it'll be among the best & biggest it'll be used to host ton of events it'll generate far more income for the club aswell as help the local area with more jobs more facilities. I'm all for that aswell

I think Mainoo will be that Toure/Iniesta esque 8 who will still work hard for the team, what we need is a Casemiro replacement to just sit back and allow Mainoo to go forward. A player profile like Busquets, Rodri or Palinha, pure destroyer but capable technically who won't leave his position.

@benedictjajo

True but it's really hard to find players like Busquet and Rodri because they are very rare and they usually peak late because being able to play like that only comes with age. Think about it, a holding midfielder that is composed under pressure, can pass very well, read the game, defensively solid, and win back the ball by being at the right place at the right time rather than chasing the players on the ball. Look back 20 years and the only world class players who possessed those qualities are Carrick, Busquet and Xabi Alonso. Palinha is great at winning back the ball but he offers very little when he's got the ball which is very unlike Rodri.

United already have “the next” Amad. Amad Diallo is exactly what United need in the middle of the park to glue things together. He’s two-footed. Can play on the left or right, or as a mezzala in the middle. He keeps possession, he passes well. He’s quick, tenacious, tracks back, imaginative - and can score vital goals, in big games. Erik, you’ve chased Frenkie de Jong for 2 years and here you have a kid with a higher natural, more dynamic threshold than de Jong. Use him!

@@user-yw1gz2ms9z - You make a fair point. United’s biggest problem this season is controlling the tempo of a game in midfield. It’s difficult to do that without a midfield conductor. So, you play on the break. That, however can take only so far. - When bottom half sides sit deep, especially at OT, you have a problem (eg defeats to Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham at home, Forest away) - You lose a lot of away games to top half sides (eg City, Arsenal, Spurs, WHU, Newcastle)

As time goes on I'm more and more happy that Sir Jim won the bidding war over Jassim. Because United don't need money, they need someone who can spend the money they have wisely, especially with how FFP is these days. There's not many English football clubs left that are owned by English people. I initially favoured the fairytale Qatar bid if I'm honest but in hindsight Sir Jim is the best thing for us imo. @@genghiskhanjunior9581 Yea, exactly. If there's any club that doesn't need outside money it's probably United (with the exception of the 2 Spanish giants), because we're one of the biggest clubs in the world with one of the biggest potential incomes. With, what, almost a billion fans? They could literally set up a GoFundMe and have every fan pay £1-2, and build a new stadium with it!

@creepingbrain 2 ай бұрын
I tried explaining this to people who were going balls deep into Jassim, all the talking heads saying that we need an owner who'll throw 5 billion, 10 billion, at us. No we don't! We can do everything we want to do, and achieve everything we want to achieve using our own resources. Off our own backs. We're not City, we're MUFC, we don't hold out a begging bowl, we do things through hard work, grit, and determination. All we needed was an owner with a vision, with a desire to get us back to the top, and the ability to get things done. That's what we've got now.
@JoeBob79569

@@creepingbrain Exactly! I've had a few of these conversations with people too, and they'd be saying stuff like _"We need £4B for renovations, clear the debt, new training complex, and 10 new players, but we're losing money every year"_ but it didn't seem to occur to them that we're in this mess because the club was run badly; and they just wanted a quick fix. I think with United being run _properly_ they could probably put close to £200m a year towards the debt, when things actually get put in motion properly in a few year's time. Or maybe even more with the new stadium and places for fans to spend more money around the ground, especially tourist fans from abroad.

Jason Wilcox (or whever it will be) as head of recruitment under Dan Ashworth as SD below Omar Berrata as CEO It's mad to think that will be the chain of command regarding transfers, and that just a few years ago Ed Woodward pretty much occupied all of those chairs even though he didn't have a fucking clue what he was doing. We certainly seem to be moving in the right direction.

As a Liverpool supporter it´s astonishing to see how closely United post Fergie mirrors the same pitfalls that we went through post Dalglish. Wrong managers. Wrong club structure. Wrong players. I sincerely hope the Glazers over-ride Radcliff and his funky ideas. ))

Ratcliffe is on to the right line super league will happen just like what golf has gone through. A European super league with 12 to 20 teams . Larger stadiums will be required for bigger crowds. Having an entertainment centre etcetera as part of the complex would help earn money for the club larger crowds a multi purpose stadium. Would help the economics of United.

Go for a new stadium close to the existing one. It can still be called Old Trafford because that is the name of the area. I would love to see a 100k capacity, making it the biggest stadium in the UK and a major venue for tournaments. I agree to develop the surrounding area with more facilities and attractions for visitors. With this and a developed Etihad, Manchester will be Europe's top football destination.

@@Doctor_KroomRome wasn't built in a day, I'm not against AWB or Scott leaving if we get decent offers but I think there's a few more people going through the door before them. Scott's not on massive wages and he can contribute of the bench imo and he's clearly a good professional as numerous managers have used him. A decent offer may tempt United to sell so who knows.

It’s not rocket science. The best way to make fans stick around and spend more time/money at the stadium and surrounding venues is if the team is doing well on the pitch. You could have the best facilities in the world, but if the team are losing and not performing well, no fan will want to hang around afterwards.

I would be open to a new stadium I think the location of OT currently really limits us. We could have a one of a kind new stadium fit for our reputation. Surrounding bars and entertainment would be great and fans will not have a problem putting money into them bars and pubs as it benefits the club. As for the transfer policy I have never understood why we sign the Martials, Sanchos, mounts etc. when we can just hire the staff that found them. Ajax and Benfica have incredible scouts. Why not hire them

Manchester United turned down Haaland due to his request for a release clause, a condition Dortmund accepted (Haaland's contract with Manchester City also includes a release clause). It was Woodward's pride overshadowing strategic decision-making, despite the high likelihood of the player developing an affinity for a prestigious club like United.

That is only when he was already a superstar. When Olé suggested him when he was still at Molde, they would ask for little
@johnvs7169
@johnvs7169 2 ай бұрын
As noted by Ole, the board had doubts about Haaland's potential at the age of 17, which was undoubtedly a regrettable decision. Haaland wasn't regarded as a 'superstar' at that time; he simply delivered some good performances in the Champions League, notably a standout display in the home game against Liverpool while playing for RB Salzburg. Though his talent was evident, only two teams, Dortmund and Manchester United, were reportedly keen on securing his signature, with Juventus also mentioned as a minor contender. Given their prior association at Molde FK, it's evident that Ole had a better understanding of Haaland's potential. Despite attempting to pursue him a second time, the board was deterred by the demand for a release clause, which they deemed embarrassing for a club of Manchester United's stature. The rest, as they say, is history.

Match day/weekend prime time yes, but having the restaurants, shopping, etc etc ensures it’s a week round thing for those not even attending fir a match. In addition tours happen all week at Old Trafford, they will there too with added attractions before and after. It’s not accessible only to those who watch a game
