A more noticeable canadian feel would be something like "Hockey Night in Canada" or perhaps an old show "Stompin Tom Across this Land" or even Marketplace.Dragons Den isn't even a very interesting show it has the feel of scripted work like most shows do.I only checked this out because i just like to check out different stuff all the time but I wouldn't make a habit of watching the Dragon's Den.

It is a trendy/fad product though so honestly it is one a few times where a royalty and no counter makes sense. This isnt going to be a future hockey equipment company. It is a one product company and theyll sell lots until they sell no more. The dragons will help market it really well, they are incentivized to sell as many as they can for their royalty and once they are rich the show is over. The company will be sold or shutdown. So "lifetime royalty" is more like "short lifetime this product has" who cares.

As a potential customer for this product, let me explain the problem. Most players don't even use skate guards. If you're in an arena, everywhere you walk is a soft material made for walking in skates. The only really solid use case for skate guards is playing outdoors. If you're going to buy skate guards and want to be able to walk across different surfaces, such as snow, uneven ground, gravel, do you want wheels on them? No, you sure don't. So what are we left with, for this super expensive skate guard? The fact that it doesn't touch the skate blade. Is that a big deal? Not really. The amount of dulling that the plastic of a regular skate guards effects to the blade is negligible compared to the dulling action of skating. Skate guards are meant to prevent major damage from dirt, stones, etc. Not to extend the time between sharpening by 1%. It's unlikely anyone would even notice the difference. So when I go to buy myself some skate guards once I lose my current pair, am I going to spend $10 for ones that do the job, or $60 for ones that theoretically do the job 1% better? This is a classic case of a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I should add, there's another possible use case, which is in the hockey bag. This is more to protect the bag than the blades. A plain old skate guard works fine for this as well.

I'm an industrial plastics expert, 11 years in this niche career. The pricing is fantastic to have a MRSP of $60. We couldn't make the polyurethane wheels alone for less than $80-$100/set. What's a bit curious is the whole "skate dulling" issue. HDPE polyethylene doesn't cause that issue, which is why we recommend it for synthetic ice. If it was made of more expensive UHMW polyethylene then the blades would dull. However, that would be overkill for the application. I would bet they're made of HDPE though so it shouldn't be an issue.
