Well because Nick Saban pushed for a 9 and then 10 SEC conference schedule. Jimbo, Kirby, Gus, Mark Richt, Sumlin, etc all voted it down. Nobody wants to see Alabama vs Jacksonville St or Troy. They want Alabama vs Wisc, VT, Notre Dame, Texas, Penn State, Georgia Tech, USC Trojans, Clemson, FSU. Saban doesn't control the scheduling and other schools don't accept Alabamas offer. Allowing them to always compete for Natl titles.
