Wanted to take some time and piece together an honest "weekend warrior" review of the Jimbo's "Tough as Shell" product after a good 7-day cure. I use Jimbo's and do like it. you are correct that it won't replace a full ceramic coating however for maintenance washes as a drying aid it is fine. I would also like to see them turn it up a notch in overall endurance however it might not be cost effective.

I agree. If they developed and sold something that’s like $40 range and gave much better protection. I would consider it for sure. Then every other wash or every three washes. You just spray a coating on. Seems simple

Great video! I like this, and have been using this as a drying aid to top off my ceramic coat, it seems to work well! it is expensive when compared to others, though.

Yes it is. I think he dropped the price a little recently. Check my description link. But yes, there are others that are more slick, smell nice and cheaper. I’m liking the DIY detail one lately. But Jimbo’s is a good product and easy to use.

Thanks for this comparison of Jimbo’s and Cancoat. Hope you can do an update video in 4 to 6 weeks so we can see how well the products hold up in real world conditions.

Great Video thanks for the update. I think these spray coatings are headed in that direction. As a two step I do use Griots fast correcting cream followed by their 3in1 ceramic spray. I have to check that Jimbo product out I've never used either. Thanks again for the honest update💯

Same but I have it on a car that sits mostly under a car port. It lasted about 1 year and 1 month on the top panels of another car that sits outside 24/7.

The hydrophobics of Can Coat seemed to be twice as good when I applied a 2nd coat.

Can coat seems better but also more expensive. So, it’s preference I think. I’ll be doing a one+ review of the Jimbos spray coating soon. I also bought DIY Ceramic spray for testing

@@talkingwithcars Jimbos looks very impressive. I'm about to try NV Nova Jet on half of a hood and Fusso coat soft 99 dark on the other half as a topper over a 9h coating.

Lasted less than a month on a car that sits outside in Florida. I personally don't care about torture tests at all. Real world elements is the only tests that matter.

Fair. I washed the car after three weeks and the lower half of car is starting to diminish in strength where the Gyeon Can Coat is holding up after a month. The one thing to remember is that it’s so easy to just simply put another layer after a wash. But it’s personal decision.

@@talkingwithcarsif you use it as a drying aid, doesn't it cause your drying towels to become hydrophobic and lose absorbency? or worse yet, doesn't it harden the fibers as some ceramic sealants to the point the hardened fibers will now scratch the car next time you use the towel?

@@victor4091 good question but no worries at all. It’s not a crystalline type coating. It’s very low content of Si02. So you can simply wash them and all good.

thank you so much for the reply! We just bought a black SUV (our first black car) so I'm trying to be extra careful with the paint after correcting it. So does SiO2 content/quantity matter? If it was higher SiO2 content it could still damage the fibers without being the crystalline type? I remember my expensive drying towel loosing absorbency with the Meguiars Ceramic Wax (blue bottle) but I don't think it became "crusty" as if it had hardened the fibers. Since then I haven't mixed my drying towels with sealants at all, just use rinseless wash in spray as drying aid but then every couple of months a separate sacrificial towel to apply sealant after drying and then it's downgraded to other stuff that is not car paint

@@victor4091 I had the same questions about the spray coatings. You always have to check with the manufacturer direct which I did in this instance and with Jimbo’s. There’s no concern. My rule of thumb is when the spray comes in a plastic bottle and the nozzles don’t clog up. Your fine. If it comes in aluminum cans or glass. I would throw the microfibers out or use them for other types of cleanup. Wheel wells etc.
