Jim Gaffigan is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer. He presently has 5 stand up specials on Netflix and 3 on Amazon Prime Video. He wrote 2 New York Times Best Sellers DAD IS FAT and FOOD: A Love Story He co-created and starred in a tv series based on his life called The Jim Gaffigan Show. Thank you. I'm 61 and your humor but also your kindness to make available these videos. Regardless of what is said this is what it means to me. 2/2022 I was diagnosed with a neurological problem from a work accident. I went from 62 hours a week salary to not being able to do anything. NOT COMPLAINING! Its life. The point is at my lowest I had forgotten to laugh. I remember the release of emotional pain I had watching u. Your humor is relatable. I don't do Facebook and don't need a reply. I'm good being like 99.9 % of the world. I'm here but I'm ok not being noticed. I just wanted to share how your kindness helped someone. Thank you!!

One of my friends was going to go to an exercise class and the woman told her to wear loose fitting clothes. The silence when my friend stared at her was priceless right before she told the woman if she had loose fitting clothes she wouldn't be paying to exercise. 😆 It was 15 yrs ago and I still laugh about it.

I'd been badly abused by a gang of men who were cray, But what I saw made me guffaw and was a great help to healing the PTSD acquired from those guys who in their eyes felt they were above the law. Thank you for the set that I will not soon forget, Where your comedy captured my heart and helped me gain a restart. Which show? Oh you know the one that goes "I just recently became a parent- pause for applause - for the ___ time -- oh not so much applause now? Holy cow! Your comedy worked like magic to help erase the memories that were so tragic. How you cherished your wife and your family, despite life ups and downs was amazing to see. The voice changes are his secret formula. It's so simple but goes unnoticed, which is why it works. What I mean is he uses those voice changes to represent other ppl, their thoughts or his thoughts. What this does, as you said, is add dimension. Specifically that dimension is multiple other characters, including spoken subtext. Jim's comedy is actually a one man show with him playing multiple characters, as opposed to telling funny stories or stories in a funny way like other comics. Jim in a way is like a ventriloquist with multiple puppets, but he found a way around being lame and using puppets like Jeff Dunham. The way he flows when he transitions into the different voices is unique to that it doesn't come off as if he is doing a one man show. Really you have to point it out, like I am to you, to even notice. The simple beauty to it not coming off as a one man show of skits is the lack of dialogue. The characters themselves never interact with each other. So he is telling a funny story after all, just thru the eyes of different ppl and perspectives at the same time. Always sunny in Philadelphia actually achieved this same nuance with their camera work. They add dimension by telling their story by literally filming it in multiple camera angles at once and editing it together in a way that makes you see the events from all the characters perspective at the same time. Anyway, Jim is super talented, unique and funny.

To be fair, the marathon bit was golden and true. My first marathon I told the college professor I was TA'ing for in grad school that I was running, and she told me she was handing out water with her son's Boy Scout Troup. By happenstance, I didn't feel like Gatorade at that station and ran to the first water person I saw; all I heard was "It's Katelyn!!! Everyone Cheer for Katelyn!!!!!" Point of the story, many marathon runners are former D1 college runners procrastinating about writing their Master's thesis'.

I've watched a lot of Jim's comedy. With most comedians, I can guess what they're about to say. Not with him. And his cadence and delivery are just impeccable. I really like when he changes his voice as if he's an audience member critiquing his own joke. Brilliant.

I find sometimes that the occasional F-bomb adds a degree of emphasis to a premise or a punchline, depending on who you are.

I like the last bit, where he was pretending to watch someone running on a treadmill and then the last part, where he said, "I brought her a lock for the bridge," in reference to the joke about the Rhine River in Germany where they put locks on the bridge as a show of love for their SO.

He's the most relatable comic I've ever heard. So good. My favorite workout is taking care of my own garden. I rarely use power tools and try to do as much as I can with hand powered tools. The people I know who have health club memberships, go running, etc. but pay someone else to do their gardening, painting, cleaning, etc. for them crack me up. They pay for a place to exert themselves, like Jim says even pay someone to make them work out, meanwhile, they pay someone else to do exertions that actually accomplish something. :)

ROFLMAO - Thank you so much for all the videos! On the normal, I have clinical depression, and this pandemic made it so much worse. Jim Gaffigan is super funny.. the great thing about is comedy is that there is no cussing and he doesn't seem to be routine. He adjusts his comedy for whatever place he's at at the moment
