They did Broadway together, and being talented people they played off eachother. But yeah, she definetely didn`t play the game by the rules. Another good one is Cathrine O`hara...seems like women of Jiminy`s past always ruffle his fearthers!!

This is one of Short's greatest characters but some yutz in the program dept. thought the show should be pulled. Bad ratings alone? Yes!. The Public at Large probably hadn't a clue. And Michael McKean ~ from The Credibility Gap to Spinal Tap and beyond he never disappoints! Love the make-up & not a single musician can actually play their instrument! Love it.

Lots of folks in SCTV, Reno911, Upright Citizens Brigade, SNL got extensive experience doing improv. Probably one of the reasons they're so funny; they can think on their feet, and those are the best comedians, imho.

Exactly. You can see evidence of this in the current cast of SNL; the cast member with the best comedic chops is Kate McKinnon, with a background in sketch/improv comedy- she has practiced and honed her craft, a consummate professional, while the least able/dynamic is Pete Davidson, whose background before SNL was...being 19 and doing a few stand-up sets around NY...the difference in talent and abilities is stark.

If you watched Gary Busey on the Larry The Cable Guy Roast performing stand up for the first time he really shows how incredibly talented, smart,funny and crazy he is at the same time.
