Finally!.. it only took me 10 years!.. I've done a lesson on my arrangement of this classic Jimmy Bryant tune! A kind of Country/Swing 50's ballad, and a lot of fun to play.
We channel our inner EVH and get some right hand tapping involved in order to generate the melodic pedal steel responses we hear answering each of Jimmy's phrases on the original.
Some nice chord voicings and double stop ideas to take away from this one too 👌🏻
Tone talk and recommended listening towards the end of the video as usual.
And for all you Louis fans out there, the King makes a welcome return! 🐈

Alex, you are one of the best guitar teachers on YT, if not THE best. Your playing is superbly tasteful and musical, and your teaching is approachable, not rushed, and takes me gently and clearly into areas I would never get to by myself. On top of that your manner is soothing and you are one cool dude!

Very good playing, very tasty. This kind of electric playing has become very rare because of music that has gone mad with distortion and sound effects.vThis guy clearly demonstrates how beautiful an electric guitar can sound without any cheap effects. There is mothing bad to say about chorus and phasing, but the pure playing shows the real artist....

@@AlexFarranGuitar Your kind of playing gives the electric guitar the position of a real instrument and not the position of just an "electric instrument". I´m a classical trained musician (see my channel and my website) but I had to fight my life against these guys who always believe that they are "elite" just because they can play Beethoven, Liszt and listen to Horowitz and Lang-Lang the complete day. A versatile musician must listen to all kinds of music. So there is also no problem to play Bach with synthesizers, it´s sure that Bach would have used synthesizers for his music if they had been available 300 years ago...I remenber that the great Segovia did not meet Chet Atkins just because Chet played the electric guitar. What a bloody nonsense...Continue playing your music...it´s really great!

Alex, like some of the other commenters, I well remembered your earlier performance video of this tune. Something of an anomaly in Jimmy's catalogue, being a ballad and more chord-based, but so beautiful; one of my absolute favourite Bryant-West sides -- and those Bm figures absolutely make it! I've never messed with tapping, but it's a brilliant way to incorporate Speedy's tasteful contribution into the arrangement. Much thanks, as always. ... Maybe some day you'll surprise me and feature a song and artist I can't take -- but I doubt it.

I love this song. I've already stolen from you the arrangement, from the older video (I've been following the channel for few years), you were playing a green telecaster I think. Thanks for that!💚😊 One question for you, my friend: how do you make your backing tracks? I mean drums and everything... do you use the same software?
@AlexFarranGuitar
@AlexFarranGuitar 7 ай бұрын
Ah yes indeed, that old green beast of a tele! Haha For my backing tracks I play all the parts myself (bass, guitars, keys where needed), but I usually do the drums through Logic’s “drummer” software. I tend to do a lot of tweaking to get the beats right but I do keep it very basic too which helps to not have it become overly time consuming.

@AlexFarranGuitar 5 ай бұрын
Love the original version of course! Jimmy Bryant is a huge hero of mine. Yeah, this is just my take on it, not actually a note for note transcription like I’ve done with some of the other bits. I also changed the underlying chord progression slightly too. I was tempted to do a complete note for note remake, but I wanted to keep this the way I did it back in 2012 as that was the video that garnered all of the lesson requests 😎
