Just wanted to do a quick little video on a move that I had made a video on previously: • Jimmy Butler - Face Up...

One of the coolest things about the stutter rip is that it effectively works as a pivot eraser (shoutout to Evan Fournier and Micah Lancaster for pointing it out) because it's such a difficult move to officiate.
Note: yes, this move is sometime known as a rocker step. I don’t mind either usage but I’ve heard pro skills trainers and higher end basketball evaluators use “stutter rip” or “shimmy jab” lately with this move so it’s what I’m going with.

@@zeusignap1477 no that's what he means. He always drives to the side his pivot foot favors. When your pivot foot is the left foot, like in all these clips, then driving right is easier and that's what jimmy butler is doing. Basically it's predictable

the whole point of the move is to shift the defenders momentum, so you gotta guess whens hes gonna do it, good luck with that

that's the point of the move, this particular move is only for driving the same way you jab, throwing ya defender off bc ppl usually drive the opposite way they jab now, n if they expect the move, it still works bc it throws off the momentum n stance of the defender causing them to open up (pause)
