Best instructor I’ve found and laughed out loud on a quiet train commute thanks for making me look like a crazy person!!! And teaching me something. Flashing off and sanding wow that should be called out from the church steeples!!

This was one of the most informative and entertaining turning videos I've seen; I loved it and will rewatch it several times. Mr. Clewes's humor is wonderful and really keeps your attention.

Once again a brilliant tutorial , and being a Brit I can understand your Geordie accent as well so I get double the pleasure and knowledge! You are certainly one of the best woodturners I've seen on KZfaq no bullshit, just good common sense and excellent concise demonstration. Well done to the camera man and editor as well.

Wow! Unreal! Stupendous! Info packed. The explanation of sealing before oiling is exactly what I needed!! I have struggled with that for a year! New turner. I love walnut oil but it left inconsistent dull patches plus used a bunch of oil. Thank you so very much Jimmy! My newest hero

I've been watching video and reading about woodworking 7 days a week for 3 years and this gentleman is THE BEST instructor I have ever seen. Some people can teach and some just can't. Jimmy is a great, no BS craftsman that can really help us in this field.

I think this is a top class demonstration. This man gives a real good honest no nonsense demo with straight to the point tips & explanations. No bull & no toolaholic nonsense trying to sell gear that every turner must have. That’s what makes it so refreshing. Well done Jimmy. I started watching this video and couldn’t take my eyes off it such is the quality of the engagement. Really top class stuff. Thank you for sharing. This has been extremely useful & productive. I've learned loads.

Enjoyed this greatly. Thanks! A sense of humor is always a plus when teaching and a quick funny personal story or remark (we all love soft curves, sorry sweetie) goes a long way to make any lesson personal and memorable to each student. 👍👍👍🍻

Great video, you are a fantastic teacher Jimmy. I really appreciate your comment about your being more patriotic to this country than the rest of the guys in the class, most Americans don't realize how great they have it. It's only until they travel abroad where they realize how easy they have it. Thanks Jimmy, you're the best???

Jimmy, I love your explanation of right and wrong, what works for you is right and what doesn't work for you is wrong, regardless of what the experts say. What is important is the finished result. I had the same arguments when teaching programming, there always more than one way of achieving a result, the way you choose, may not be the most efficient way, but if it works, the it is right. Love your projects.

Jimmy, Thank you for your most exhilarating and informative turning demonstration. I am a self taught luthier and have been building and repairing guitars for a good number of years. I have lost interest because I dontfeel the artistic appeal. If you look at guitars they all look alike with exception of wood and accessories. I want to start turning. I have watchedhours and hours of videos on turning. This demonstration and the information you imparted was precise and contained more useful information Than all the others combined. Excellent demonstration!

Thanks Jimmy. I had some trouble when turning across, bought my lathe about a year ago and never really got it working. Today I tried your technique described almost at the end (1:02:00), and for the first time I hollowed out a small bowl without struggling.
@martylawrence10925 жыл бұрын
that cordless is clicking because your lathe is trying to spin your drill the same direction it is spinning. so its being forced to spin faster than it can go on its own. try running the cordless in reverse

As always, I very much enjoyed listing both the dialog and training. But, I was curious as to what kind of 'insert'was used in the wooden tool handle, that facilitates quick-changes of cutting tools? Was the handle purchased with the adapter included, or were you able to purchase a kit, and turn you own handle? Thanks, Terry
@QD_Makesstuff4 жыл бұрын
You can get the handles with quick release from Jimmy’s website.

It's a shame the camera concentrated on the cut and tool instead of keeping an eye on the profile being created on the opposite side of the bowl, which is where you as the turner also need to be looking -- as Jimmy did say, somewhere! Nonetheless, really valuable information, excellent tutorial.

I think it’s a demo only thing. Most prof turners always wear dust production when turning ‘at home’ but can’t talk / explain with one. However, most have some sort of dust extraction provided by the club they’re demo’ing at though!
