Leather worker and wood worker here. I smiled big when I saw you use the table saw to gouge your leather to make the strap. The tool that we use is called a V gouge. But you use what you have and whatever works. Good on you. The bag looks awesome, and very functional. When you set your copper rivets and burrs, after doming them with the setter, you can go back over them with a cobblers hammer to peen them over more.

The secret to youtube happiness is not clicking the watch button if somthing comes on you don't wish to watch. While I don't watch Jimmy's channel I understand that he has a huge following and as such having him produce somthing for weaver brings hundreds of thousands of potential customers to weaver leather. This is advertising for weaver and they do need to make it pay or we will not receive other more informative videos. I would love to see more of Jimmy dong this type of project.

Leather worker here that found DiResta through Weaver. I’ve built many pieces of luggage using the exact same hide and tools. But the saw to make the fold lines instead of a notcher... amazing idea! I’m switching how I make relief notches! Worth the watch, and good on Weaver for adding somebody who makes everyone feel like they can do it too!

Pro leather bag makers will probably wine and moan about a number of these approaches but like me, when I make something proprietary like this, I don’t want to finish and be afraid of using it! You want a Versace tool bag?! More power to you! (no but seriously NO power to you, I hope your pretty bag spontaneously combusts!😑) This is built to work! Therein lies your style. Well done! Damn well diddly doned!👍🏽

Who cares what "they" use to get it done! you got it done! You learned something new and that's never a waste of time, right or wrong it's only a waste of time if you didn't learn something. One of my favorite things to do is use something to do something it wasn't designed to do! Brother, your the master at it! p.s. to Matt W. you never need an excuse to by a new tool! the right tool lets you move the world!

I think Jimmy is great, I've followed him for ages, but the real star of this video is that sewing machine. It's an industrial machine at around 3500 dollars. No amateurs, just starting out, will have access to such a machine. This bag, with this weight of leather, turns into really hard work!

Great looking bag and a brilliant idea for skiving the handle material. I never would have thought of that. I have a V gouge for that but I've never really mastered the tool and I can see where the table saw would be particularly attractive to anyone used to working with wood or similar material.
