I love that he prepares jokes, but really has the skills to be funny on the spot as well. It´s not a prerequisite for someone to be brilliant, it´s just nice to watch.

If you look at his board during that QI episode, he stole letters from the person next to him and also did not use some of his own. Not a fix but a bit of cheating going on to get to a funny sentence he already had in his head.

Its a joke, he gets the author wrong because he not only never read the book just the name of the title of the book and then used it to prop up the table hence why he cant remember the proper author..also it was the most important book to him because of the fact he used it for an actual practical purpose instead of just reading it.

Heidegger's "Being and Nothingness" which doesn't exist, Jean Paul Sartre wrote "Being and Nothingness", Heidegger wrote "Being and Time" and "Being and Truth", but I doubt if anyone in the audience could pick him up on that
