James Clecy Haggett was born on December 2, 1928 in Granite city Illinois and sadly passed away on January 30, 2000 in Piedmont, Missouri.
James also was a Veteran and served his country proudly in the Korean war.💪🇺🇸
Jimmy was a country singer who also sang rockabilly, recorded on the Caprock, Sun and Meteor labels.🎶
He played with several bands before forming the Ozark Mountain Boys.🎶 He also worked as a disc jockey for KBOA in Kennett, Missouri, and WWYN and KLCN in Blytheville, Arkansas.📡
Jimmy Haggett cut two very different sessions for Sun record.🎸🎶🥁
The first resulted in a rather lackluster country single that did little or no business; the second was raw, pumped-up rockabilly. Nothing from the second session was released at the time, and the tape box was unmarked. When the rockabilly sides were first issued, it was under Junior Thompson’s name.
A concerned Jimmy, who hung onto an acetate of the songs given to him after the session, “but I was trying to get in with the rock ‘n’ roll craze because we were entertainers“. Jimmy said.
The song “How Come You Do Me” Also known as “Do Me Like You Do” along with “Rock Me Baby” was recorded in late 1956 and featured Charlie Hardin on guitar, Jackie Lee Adkins on bass, and Don White on drums. 🎸🥁🎶
Jimmt Haggett is laid to rest at Rockwell cemetery in Greenville,Mo.✝️
