I know a lot of the "old school WSP purists" will absolutely flip the fuck out about me saying this, but Jimmy Herring is EXACTLY what Widespread Panic needed! They have been absolutely out of this WORLD since 06 when he joined! Also ROFL at "Get this guy a job!" Really? I'd say being the lead guitarist for WSP is just about as good a job as he could have gotten! :D

His playing in with Phil Lesh and friends was epic. He was totally free to just jam and it was sick. He was part of that everchanging band's tightest lineup, called "the quintet". The other guitarist was Warren Hayes and they played off each other incredibly. Especially on long jams, which was basically every song.

Too often, You see highly educated and technical players lose the "feel" and the yearning of a uneducated but heartfelt player. Jimmy, to an extent. Can maintain a balance between those idioms? No easy task!
