There are great players all over the world....only a few become legends....jimmy is Scotland’s legend as George best is Northern Ireland’s, Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore were England’s......Rest in Eternal peace Jimmy....your work is done.

There was so much more to Jimmy's game than 'tanner ba'' dribbling. In his last season at CP, I saw him play in the old inside-right position in a 5-0 win v Hibs. He scored twice and was the game's best player, showing fantastic intelligence, linking, energy and finishing.

Not just a great player a genuine diamond of a guy Celtic till he died but seen the bigger picture just loved decent honest people as a 10 year old I had the pleasure of meeting him when my dad was in the pub and im outside kicking my rolled up crisp bag about as if im at Hampden took the bag off me and buried it the pub doors that where the goals LEGEND

wee jinky was before my time, but ive heard the stories and saw clips of him on dvd to know the man was a genius, as a celtic man as i am we had a genius in wee jinky, the rangers had davie cooper, both great players no doubt and sadly missed.

Greetings from Argentina, I love jinky too, just as much as I love the way George Best ,the great Eusebio and so many others , and I don't blame you if you still hold hard feelings for Argentinians 'cause I know them and love the sport too much and refuse to be a hypocrite ,also I've scottish and irish friends whom I used to meet at the Fish and Chips in Kearny, N.J. USA and enjoyed good times which i am fond of. cheers.

Kinda ironic when you think about it really. The Spanish (with the exception of Real Madrid) were nothing more than glorified hatchet men during these days. Especially Athletico Madrid and even Barca. Meanwhile It was Celtic that the world was looking to when mouth watering football was discussed. Changed days indeed!

You're right that they were both different players .Johnstone was an outstanding winger and nobody comes close. I've watched Davy Cooper at his best and he was good but not in Johnstones league.
