Had this happen to me with a 4 foot quarter pipe in my driveway. Hoa tried to make us take it down because it didn’t fit the “community image”

My cousin had a similar thing. His family owns a house that used to stand pretty much alone. The surrounding land owners sold the land and it became a new development area. Within a few years is was a small community with an HOA and they constantly harrassed my cousins family about joining which they had no interest in. They tried sending some paperwork saying thay they had to take down the mini ramp in the back , destroy the china bank that went down the side of the drive, and remove the flowers by the mailbox. They are not part of the HOA so there was a pretty gnarly argument that ended with my uncle suing the HOA for harrassment.

I would imagine the neighbors/city hall signed off on permits for what they thought was a mini-ramp, but then once they started to build everyone realized they would have an 11 ft halfpipe in their yard.

The first halfpipe we ever built was in a friend's subdivision driveway, 35 years ago. No plans, stolen construction site wood. I wish people complained and made us take it down. We all got destroyed on that thing. Learning how to drop-in on a 6ft half, that met vert and had no flat is an adventure.

wow this sucks, we had a kid's dad get a proper atty in Haddon Heights, NJ in 80s to beat the town back. it became a precedent case in nj. Zoning is $$$$ game sadly.
