In high powered FWD you can use the brake and throttle together instead of a handbrake. You'll flick around very quickly.

There's a video where a rally driver has to use the hub to drive after his steering wheel falls off, which makes me think that people are turning up their DD wheels way too high for the most part. I would expect high wheel forces in a high downforce car without power steering, but not on dirt?

I used to hold the WR for the other direction on that German track. And the full track. lol. Nice video. Good to see the wheel at use.

You should save up for a rim with paddles and buttons first, but I do enjoy my Fanatec hand brake. Bodnar makes a conversion for Fanatec rims maybe you could go that route... Or even a basic button box would help a lot if you don't mind shifting and that's not very expensive.

Don't skip leg day, Jimmy! Loving the comparisons between your T500 and the OSW, though it sounds like there really is no comparison.

the devs said that they where not happy with the tarmac in dirt rally, with the cooperation with cooper tyres a lot of that could be sorted out because of the extra data they could get from them for the tyre physics (as well as improved dirt)

Jimmy there's a way to set the shifter to work as a handbrake... You need to download the drivers for the TH8A shifter and set it to analog mode and that's it.

Lol. I also currently have a bare wheel rim on my OSW... with the button box (with shifter paddles, and a nice LED display) to be added/purchased later this year. It's kind of the reason why I'll probably temporarily avoid games like DiRT and unfortunately ETS2 (needs lots of buttons). But it should still be easy enough to lower the overall strength of the FFB, while I love the detail and responsiveness the OSW provides, I personally leave strength fairly low.

Can you customize the output forces on the OSW per game, sort of what the AccuForce does? That might make the tarmac feels little better. Great video and happy for you with your new professional gear!

Almost a year later ... Is the FFB better? because I love to diy and when i can afford OSW then I want to build it.

Jimmy, your FFB setting it way too high. I did the same when I first got my Bodnar wheel too. Turn it way down and reduce your DOR to something like 360 or 540 degrees. Dirt Rally will be far more enjoyable ;) . Keep up the great videos btw, and congratulations on your new rig!

The wheel is more of a torture device than anything else

My steering wheel also gets recognised as a gamepad and it's really annoying because the brake and the throttle cancle eachother out

I really hope you tune your FFB better because if the wheel's almost ripping out of your hand you should tune it down abit lol.

I could never find any in game settings that I was completely happy with the osw. I think its because the developers never gave DD wheels any consideration also the physics aren't quite up to scratch.

You appear to be using the OSW to make the wheel weight heavier than it would be in real life. Rally cars on dirt have fairly light steering because of the lack of grip and the power steering most have. Are you doing anything to actually match Nm force from a real measurement to the % necessary to match it with your wheel?

Hey Jimmy, I have a question, if you don't mind. I got into DiRT Rally, and it pushed me to buy my wheel (a T300RS). When I first got my wheel, I split my time between DR and AC, doing well in Rally (about where I was with a controller), but quite poorly at AC. Well, I've been practicing AC a lot lately and I'm getting better...and I hadn't played DR in a couple weeks. I popped it on for fun last night, and...well, I did really bad. My Question is this: It seems like DiRT Rally (and perhaps other rally games?) require a LOT more steering input than Assetto (and perhaps other tarmac games). Is that your experience too?

It seems a little too strong don't you think? Maybe not, I don't own a DD wheel so I wouldn't know.

ahh ok.. so it's not only me or my settings... to me dirt rally feels realy strange with an osw.. especially the tarmac... it sometimes almost feels like inverted ffb or so...well not realy at least not all the time... but sometimes it does stuff that you usually get from inverted ffb.. but only at some moments.. and I don't realy mean the torque steer of fwd or awd cars.. well maybe it is the torque steer but well overdone :D .. it just flicks left and right and you get totally out of controll.. like if you expect the wheel to load up and get resistance to turn.. it just flicks right into the turn.. even before realy turning in... like I said this typical inverted ffb feeling.. also I cannot find any setting to invert it.. which I would had tried already..
