We celebrate William’s 93rd birthday, and he talks about not seeing his own documentary, what wisdom he has to share in his older age, living in a truck after Star Trek ended, going to Space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, being emotional during the trip, and since he didn’t love the way he delivered his dying line “Oh my” as Captain Kirk, Jimmy gives him a chance to redo it.

And how! The guy is swimming with sharks at 90, riding horses for competitions, and going into outer space...in his 90's! I feel the same. Every night, I read Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls to my toddler, and when I read the birth and death dates, I think of my mom. She passed away a little over a year ago at the age of 61 from liver cancer. Of course, not all the people in the book live as long as her either, but it just serves as a reminder to live each day to the fullest and do what brings us joy and fulfillment. I used to jokingly argue with my mom about her Hogwarts house because she said she was a Gryffindor, but I thought she was more of a Hufflepuff. But seeing her face the cancer without any fear and treating death "like the next great adventure"...❤

I grew up with really strict parents - couldn't go anywhere as a teen. My GF invited me to go to Star Con that was happening in downtown Denver when I was 16 and William Shatner was going to be there and I soooooo wanted to go, but of course my parents said no. I was heartbroken bc I had such a crush on his Captain Kirk character. Fast forward 40 years, and last year I FINALLY was able to have the time/money to travel to a convention where he was going to be. So I drove from Tallahassee Florida to Mooresville Pennsylvania to meet Mr. Shatner. He was as cool as I thought he would be, and so very nice. Was one of the best things I ever did in my life. For all the young people out there - ALWAYS take the chance to do something that will make memories of job and excitement. I have missed out on too many experiences when I was younger trying to be straight laced and conforming to societal expectations. Sometimes, you just gotta do crazy sh*t to live your life. Will you sometimes regret things you did (or tried to do)? Absolutely. But the worse feeling is regretting the things you DIDN'T do. Go ahead and take that chance - it might change your life.

I didn't quite get it (I'll have to rewatch the dialogue exchange beforehand) and I thought he was kidding... so I stopped what I was doing and was waiting for the audience to laugh because, I mean, it's a comedy show, I thought that's what he was doing. Then my eyes welled up because it looked so real. So I definitely misread the room 😂 and I'll have to rewatch it.

He is such a perfectionist and so hard on himself. I've had the joy of being corrected by him in all his hilarious William Shatner glory and it was just great. He's definitely very confident, but he's also warm, and keenly aware and intelligent, and unafraid of speaking up and standing up for what he believes in, even if he upsets many people in the process. He embodies the word "bold" and was perfectly cast as Captain Kirk. He is a true pioneer in many ways and still continues to boldly go where no man has gone before! ❤😁

In the interview he recounts the day he turned 40, he woke up one day and thought that his life was almost over and he was old. Then he said something about how he was wrong and how he lived another great 40 years of life all happy and healthy. Looking at him now at 93, its crazy how he's been able to maintain his health and mental acuity.
