I spent Earth Day with David Suzuki a few years back- he came to speak at the college I work at and we had an opportunity to meet him afterward. What an absolute bucket list moment! The man is a Canadian legend.

When David Suzuki's daughter went to university, she stayed in student residence. The dons had to warn us not to go crazy over her and befriend her just because of her father. Or pepper her with questions about her father. She is her own person. That was the celebrity status of David Suzuki in Canada. A scientist.

@@masterimbecile Not exactly. David Suzuki's Nature of Things leans to observing the natural world more than to experiments. It also has a calm soothing presentation. I recommend his books too. He is older than Bill Nye and was / is our earliest environmental educator. Love Bill too!

In the 1960's on the "Nature of Things" they talked about pollution and global warming. It is sad that fifty years later mankind still has not addressed these issues.

I think the show does this to jokingly poke fun at Canadians, but I think it backfired. However, we Canadians love any shout outs we can get. And The Nature of Things has been on the air for 60 years, and apparently America still doesn't know. Lol

B Royce ...why do you expect Americans to know whats on air in Canada? And why do you think asking questions about Canada to a Canadians poking fun at Canadians? Don't you think it's more insulting to ask a Canadian questions about America expecting them not to know the answers? (Don't get me wrong my siblings are Canadians and I'm an American by choice.)

Every time I see Canada mentioned in American media, it is always in a condescending manner. It really shows how Americans are internally feeling secure about themselves.

@@edcarls3861 I don't expect Americans to know what's on in Canada. I merely think it's interesting, given that it's been on the air for six decades. And I think Jimmy is poking fun at Canada, because of the interview he mentioned with Will Arnett. It's as if he's (jokingly), trying to set snobby Canadians straight. And I'm not even mentioning the "Canada is to blame for the Canadian geese trying to take out Sully" thing...All of this to say, the show has a running history with this. It's an ongoing gag.
