I saw John sing this song in Las Cruces New Mexico in July 1996. It was one of my most memorable experiences. He did not tell a story about the song or talk about why he wrote it... He just stepped up to the mike and sang it. I was not familiar with the song, at that time, and wondered for years about the song. Well done video. It makes me feel like John made me feel that night in Las Cruces...the edge of tears.. Thank you.

My Husband and My song for each other. We have gone through his Parents and Grandmother and two Nephew's dying in a tragic fire, to him having massive strokes when he was in his early 30s and by Gods grace, a complete recovery. Then I had stage 3 breast cancer in my 40s and came through it with His help. So much of this beautiful song sung by John Denver is a constant reminder of the trails and the Love we have both shared for 37 yr. I Wish i could thank John for writing and singing this song for us.❤❤

This song was for Cassandra,John said after they broke 💔 up it's the best love song he ever wrote or knew from anyone else. He also said in this same moment they were fighting pretty badly over stuff. So sad> then it was soon after this Cassandra finds out he died & she screams & falls on the floor. So you know they still loved one another. 🤔 Even Annie said after he died, if they could be together now > they would make it as, what they dissagreed over was immature stuff. Apparently, a hard man to foget & not love forever > no matter what even intimately. ❤❤ We all miss you John.

When my husband was serving in northern Iraq as a combat medic during the heaviest fighting between 2003 and 2005, I would listen to this song at night. It did make me cry, but it made our commitment and love that much stronger. Every day he was away, has made our time together more precious when he returned. His emotional injuries may never heal, but I will always stay by his side.

I think this is by far the most beautiful song I have heard John Denver sing. This was sung at my wedding and that was the first time I had ever heard it. I am an avid fan of John Denver and naturally, I fell in love with this song. Beautiful songs always bring tears to my eyes....whether it be sad tears or happy tears.....the tears this song brings are just because it is such a beautiful song. We lost such a talented singer way too soon when we lost John Denver!!
