People also forget this was the last song in their set. That should tell you how insane she is to be able to still put on that performance after 30 minutes of singing and growing. And yes the band is insanely talented. Best band in metal at the moment in my opinion.

They're from the currently occupied regions of eastern Ukraine. They fled their homes when the war broke out, leaving their families and friends behind, in order to continue to make music. They eventually found residency in Kiev, but were basically on tour ever since, just to make ends meet, right until covid came along - before that they had a couple hundred shows just in the two years previous to that, and the pandemic is pretty much their longest break from touring. Pisces is a proper studio track in terms of production, but the live session was actually a re-recording of an older song, in order to show off their (at the time) new drummer. The song went viral on reaction channels, which is what actually gave them the much needed and deserved reach, and are growing (or rather exploding) ever since. I'll drop my usual Jinjer recommendations, minus this one, but if you want deep live grows I'd check Who Is Gonna Be The One live, Pit Of Consciousness life in Kiev, or the live in Melbourne version of Sit Stay Roll Over (their antifascist song), I usually recommend the official video of it, but she does goes pretty low on that one. Couple notes on a some of the other songs. Pisces and I Speak Astronomy are personal songs about Tatiana herself, and are very metaphorical. Pisces being about her personality, and the other being a love song, about her search for a soul mate. The song Home Back is about the war in their home region, and the song No Hoard Of Value about the coal mining industry in their home region (Donbass region), which is one of the biggest coal mining industries, and one of the most hazardous working environments in the world. So both of those songs are also pretty angry (Sit Stay Roll Over too). I think the controversy comes from the word "manipulated" and how you interpret that word. If you mean her voice was layered (with layers of her own voice) and normal production added, then yes it was manipulated. It was however not altered in terms of pitch. And what is often missed about the Pisces video is the fact that it was never made to showcase her singing in particular, in fact it is a fairly simple song in terms of her singing. The point was to rerecord the song with their new drummer to show his interpretation of the song. Then it became viral because of the surprising switch in her voice. She does also go a lot lower in the growling parts, both in studio and live, for example in Who is Gonna Be the One live, and Home Back in studio. With all that said, nice to see you return to Jinjer, and great that you mention the rest of the band, that sometimes gets forgotten.

Tati was pitching her growls a bit lower than her default growling tone in Pisces. Just like a voice she can make a range of tones and what she did in Pisces was a bit lower than usual. However Pisces also wasn't her low growls, those can be heard most clearly on Who Is Gonna Be The One, Pit Of Consciousness, Home Back, or the Alive in Melbourne version of Sit Stay Roll Over. SSRO in Melbourne has the most cool vocal tricks of any performance she's done, usually she seems to only use some of her coolest stuff in each song for variety - so I'd suggest not doing it next, lots of cool stuff to see in other songs first. ;) She does the growls differently in every show so sometimes she throws something really cool in that never shows up again like when she makes her growl sound evil (or at least melodramatic - I feel like she should say Muahahaha after it) the last time she says "rise to live again" in this performance, which I haven't seen on any of the bootlegs of other concerts.

Ok, for the record (pardon the pun), as a musician for 40 years who has played professionally for decades, regarding the Pisces Live Session video, the primary vocals, including the growls, are 100% legit LIVE and unmanipulated aside from the reverb, delay and eq that ALL musicians use both live and in the studio. There WERE, however, additional vocal tracks added in spots after the main vocals were recorded, primarily CLEAN vocals that were mixed in with the growls for added depth. Make no mistake, though, not only can Tatiana growl that low on her own, she can actually go even LOWER, as you'll see for yourself in the link I'll provide at the end of this post, for the "Who Is Going To Be The One" live video performance. I have seen her do this myself, live and in person from about 4 feet away, and there are numerous other live videos of her doing this both onstage and even the raw takes of her doing it in the studio with ZERO effects or added tracks of any sort. The woman's range is nothing short of INCREDIBLE. There currently is NO ONE, male OR female, who has the range she has not only in pitch, but also in style. Probably the next video you should watch to cement this after Who Is Going To Be The One is the one-take studio performance of "Judgement and Punishment", which features just one camera fixed on Tatiana the entire time. If you still think it's all "manipulation" after that, I'm sorry, but your ears are just plain broken. Dig the channel, ladies, but this misconception needs to be put to rest once and for all. Enjoy! "Who is gonna be the one" Live will make everything about making her growls deeper with effects disapear. She growls deep and also deeper than some male vocalists is capable of ;) By the way. Quality wise the music overpowered the vocals a lot. Dont know what you use and how that happened, but the quality of your reaction to this is a lot worse than the 100+ reactions i have seen for this song. I´m not being negative or criticising. Just letting you know that i heard heard some quality issues if it can help you out in future reactions

Layering isn’t the same thing as manipulation, just an FYI. The main vocal line in Pisces wasn’t manipulated at all. Adding a second layer to add depth isn’t manipulation. Also, the vocals will sound different depending on the environment. Pisces was in a studio vs Perennial being in an open air festival. Idk if you actually know how sound works.

You got me curious and I had to look up where exactly Wacken is in Germany, and sure enough it is just a short distance South of the border for you. I guess the point of Pisces was the duality (the two fish swimming In opposite directions) so the verses were subdued and light whilst the choruses were layered and super heavy, so both complaints could probably be explained with artistic choice.

for the record it wasn't manipulated to make it deeper ... she only did some doubling by layering because initially the video was done to showcase their new at the time drummer, and as she had some extra time did a doubling track. As for Wacken currently its still the biggest metal festival in the world with a total of 125000 people audience on max (second one is Hellfest in France) .And she isn't Czech she andwhole band are from Ukraine ( one of the ex Soviet Union states)

Although this is my favourite band, I don't get the fuss about her voice, she is definitely not the first female vocalist to perform like this. Far from it , there are multiple bands whom came before which lead me to this band some 7 to 8 years ago. But to reach some of the notes she's able to with little effort without proper vocal training due to her exemplary status as a live performer is impressive as the band as whole as they are all at the top of the game when it comes live performances and the tightness in which they perform.

It's so far the only scandinavian date on their european leg, before they hit North America. Hopefully we don't have to worry to much about corona at that time.

You are wrong, she can hit a much lower tone in her growl, , which as you said would sound masculine, watch "Who is gonna be the one" live, by then. You were right and wrong about the first song, yes they edited the song and put more layers on her growls, but the layers they put on was higher growls, and also in any case it was recorded from her own voice.

Jinjer is amazing live, straying off the normal recommendation path a little, "Retrospection" is a good pick. Please take a look at your audio mix, it sounds like you are applying your EQ for your voices to the music, it really unbalances the mix, pushing the instrumentals forward drawing out the vocals.

But no distortion what so ever. Listen to WHO IS GONA BE THE ONE live. Then you will see what she can do. You may belive what you want and be wrong all you want.

They are from the Ukrainian district of Los Angeles. 😜 When it comes to Tati's vocals, you could say they are the most improvised part of the band. In some performances she will switch the pitch in ways that are different than the recording. For example, her growls in this performance of Perennial are deeper than the studio track.

Jinjer is a great band. Just spend some time listening to different footage and you'll get an idea of her range. There's a lot of great female growlers. I like Tati and I like a lot of others. A lot of the comments that you'll get from the Jinjer camp is that she's the best and only type rhetoric. It's their personal choice to feel that way and I don't question that. I'm just making a suggestion to be aware that you have many in the fan base that will give her the title 'best' when it comes to female harsh vocalists. Have fun exploring Jinjer, they're an awesome band. You might want to try some others too. Dehydrated, Arch Enemy, The Agonist, Venom Prison, Abnormality, Irony of Fate, Eths, Null Positiv, ...oh, ...uh, I'm trying to think off the top of my head... Izegrim, Cripper, Blind Ivy, the new line up of Torture Squad, Nervosa, ...Crypta is about to release their debut...Crypta is a break off from Nervosa, Fallcie, Infected Rain... This is even close to her deepest growl. Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev is a better example of the band as well as Tatiana's gift as a vocalist. There is no manipulation live. Doubling vocal tracks is common and was done in post sparsely in the live Pisces session. But I reiterate that the idea that her voice is "manipulated" or altered in order to sound more "male" would not be even part of the discussion if this was a male singer who sounded "female"... your acknowledgement that she can sing this way she does live still was a qualified admission. Btw they are Ukrainian and are based out of there.
