“You never get used to her voice” I can safely say that this depends a great deal on the musical exposure as a child. I spent most of my teen years on death metal, black metal, some thrash metal, industrial, and hardcore. This is home for me. However, perhaps it’s easier to take in the vocals if you think of them as rap vocals delivered through distortion. They are far more rhythmically oriented than melodically oriented, and thinking of them as a rhythm instrument may make acceptance of them easier.

I think the 2 most famous female vocalists in metal who can do both clean singing and growls are Tatiana and Alyssa (Alyssa mixed both types of singing when she was in The Agonist but she does only growls now that she sings for Arch Enemy).
