Jiraiya's death hit so hard I was in a mood for days.

"I swore I'd accomplish a deed so great that it would obliterate all my failures." You did, and that accomplishment lead to Naruto Uzumaki saving not only the Village Hidden in the Leaf, but also the whole shinobi world. Some say it was his will that saved the world, but I believe that you taught him how to do it.

His final speech never fails to make me cry. To think in your final moments that your life has been meaningless and that you have been noting but a failure, having that hope of one day having something that people will remember you for that instead of all of your short comings. Can’t help but break down especially when he comes to peace and sees his life did have purpose in the end.

No matter how many times I see this episode (I’ve been rewatching the series for almost 2 decades now). No matter how many times I see it, I still get watery eyes when I see Jiraiya die. It’s like I actually lost a mentor in real life. It’s so strange how we can connect to people that we know don’t exist, but they somehow exist in our hearts based on our connection to a show/anime.

This anime gave soo many emotions to generations of watchers truly one of the greatest it's just a shame it's followed by something so callous and non emotional as Boruto. Truly a tragedy.

Jiraiya died feeling his life was a failure. If only he could see what became of Naruto, and how he changed the world. I wish he could have seen it. The look on his face as he is released from all his pain knowing he didn't fail this time would have been amazing to see.

If there is one thing Kishimoto is good at, its writing tragedy and self sacrifice on their emotional peaks. Been getting that right since the first episode and the anime making you feel since the first named arc where threat of death almost hit the prodigy of the trio.
