That front bed/living room space is so versatile, not seen anything quite like it in the front of a van conversion before 😍

My wife and I did the same thing some 23 years ago in the exact same van. We spent 2 yrs on the road doing the majority of Europe, Russia and got as far as Turkey and north Africa. I wasn't called van life back then and we didn't meet many other none retired van travelers, KZfaq has certainly helped promote this type of travel. Enjoy your trip.

For a 1999 camper it was way ahead of its time! Thumbs up to your mum for keeping her in tip top shape, god rest her soul. They certainly do not make them like that anymore! And the fact that you guys can use that bathroom door to close of a section for private use is awesome! I have not see anything like that. Remember it’s a 1999!!!! Awesome video guys! I love how you showed Tanya sleeping while Adam was working. We all know it’s the other way around 😂😂😂 I love the bathroom, it must be a joy to wash your hair, pits and HooHah after a long, sweaty, day hiking. And not having to find an appropriately positioned hedge in the middle of the night is a game changer. Adam ‘and that’s the only mirror we have. Except the other one’ 🤣🤣🤣. The ‘In loving memory of Mum’ actually made me tear up! She would be so proud of you taking Jits on more adventures. I am still stuck at home due to the evil COVID-19, scared to go out as I’m 57 with asthma and high blood pressure, but you guys are freeeeeee 😁 Go on adventures and share them with me. One of the best van tour I've ever watched!! Loved it so much 😍 Makes it so much more special that you guys inherited Jits from Adam's mum. I especially loved the stop animation style section to show how the bed gets made up...very clever and made it easy to see exactly how it's done, whereas other van tour videos I often leave not really getting to see how they do the bed conversions. I've been searching for ideas to have a bed at the front side of the van , kitchen and bathroom at the back because its more secure to have a bed in the middle in case of any kind of road accidents/impacts . I watched many videos but yours is the most practical, minimalistic yet spacious and the best concept. I'm blindly going to follow this van build . Love from India ❤❤❤❤❤

I recently found you, I own a trendy T6 pop top known as Sally. (Sorry Adam couldnt help it). But I love the way this van covers a more permanent van life. Sally couldnt cope with us being in her 24/7, she likes some breathing space down the storage site to chill out with other camper buddies. However, I wouldnt usually comment, but the finale of this video caught my eye - I am sorry to hear that your mum is no longer with us Adam. She clearly knew what a decent van needed, and didn't spare any expense to make it happen. I see the positive that Jits lives on in her memory as an extra special incentive to spread the word of how positive a van life can be. Best Dave

Made it to the end. Have no interest in getting a van, but we’ve had RVs for near 30 years and plan to be Fulltime in ours in a little less than 2.5 years. Have never seen this van model. Very impressed with the design and use of space as well as the fact that it is still in great shape 20 years later.

Ive watched a lot of van tours, but this is by far the best van I've ever seen, and I've never even heard of it!

Much better than modern vans with all their mod cons. This has everything you need.

Love the tour! Very smartly laid out! I would get a fire extinguisher to go with the fire blanket. I would also move the carbon monoxide detector near the floor as it’s heavier than oxygen and drops down. I would also install a security system, as many vanlifers have gotten robbed. What an awesome video! Thanks for sharing!

How did I miss that you’d posted this?? FINALLY we get to meet Jits properly and what a clever van she is!!! Her versatility and fantastic use of space is mind-blowing!! As you know, I’m just starting out on the conversion of a much larger vehicle, but there’s so many clever ideas in Jits that I can’t help but be inspired to maximise my use of space, even though I will have a lot more of it to play with! Adam - having lost a parent myself I cannot think of a more fabulous way to remember your mum than to continue having such amazing adventures in Jits. Absolutely wonderful video as always - looking forward to seeing more of you guys and Jits now that you’re back on the road! 😍😁👌🏻

I like the way the back doors open, good for ventilation and also because the kitchen is to one side of the van you can use the space to carry very large things down the middle fo the van .

Hi you adventuring pair. We bought the same A/S Symphony from new & loved it. Here's the rub, the registration No being S199 LCF ha ha cool eh. What I added was a turntable on the drivers seat, it gave great views from the back when seats were facing each other & more leg room when the o/s bed was used as a single. Another mod was, open the n/s/r door & you'll see wood panelling, behind there is a large cavity, I removed the panel cut a rectangle piece out & finished it with beading & refitted it. I used the new found space for wedges, water filling hose & a BBQ! This van is still being used we sold it after 3 yrs & bought a A/S Symbol virtually the same layout. Happy days you two. Are you still awake ha ha.

Old school and modern mix into one beautiful vintage van

Great video guys! We have an 04 Symbol - almost identical to Jits. One recommendation would be to change all the lighting to LED. I used 14" units which were about £30 each. Not cheap but they use a fraction of the power of your existing. Also, I swapped out the fridge for a 12v compressor one. My 120w solar will provide more than enough to run it. No more mucking about with gas, which is great. Also, I got the van chipped. Power is up from 85hp to 115hp. It is brilliant. Actually uses less diesel but means no more changing gear for every little hill.

What a lovely video! Your Mum made a great choice with Jits - way more space and much easier to live in than a VW, yet still compact enough to go anywhere (a real advantage in some Portuguese old town centres, as you must know!) I first lived in a van as a student in the 1970's and have looked at many hundreds since - but have long thought the Autosleeper Symbol takes some beating. Guess it's the ES (Extra seat) model? - which gives even more flexibility. BTW - could the mugs be Autosleeper's original crockery? - as their vans always came complete with crockery and glasses. Nice to see young travellers relishing vanlife in something different from the usual 'cool' vehicles. I'll watch out for you in Portugal - Happy travels!

I have become obsessed with these van tours. Weirdly, although I have backpacked a lot....and bike toured with a tent., I don't have any conscious plans to buy a van. However, something is bringing me to these videos. Your van has everything. For practicality, size, design etc, this is so much better than most of the other vans I have seen. I agree, the dated look is pretty cool and kitsch. Jits is cool without trying. I love the dream you live. Don't stop. :)

hello from wales, we've had lots of vans over the years and an eriba puck which was fun. but after so many years we bought symphony on a 96 plate, wow what a great van , audrey as it was called took us all over with no fuss, i did a few mods same as you solar panel batteries , i put a clear strip of perpex in the bathroom, where you have the window screwed it to the outside of the frame with short screws , the wife got all her make up in the etc, a really easy fix. i also fitted a k + n air filter to the engine, it helps the engine breath great for hot climates cost around £40. on the bike rack we had a fammia storage box. we sold our audrey but loved auto sleeper so much we bought the Neuvo model, still older van a 2006 model wonderful van, your mum was right I'm of an age when the vw van were cheap, but like you said no toilets showers etc, auto sleepers are by far the best,

I love everything about Jits! 1. Mums are the best 2. Complete bathroom is non negotiable and I've never seen a van with folding sink in the bathroom so watching your video was mindblowing for me 3. Having the option to keep the bed accessible even when someone is using the main living area 4. The extendable kitchen counter/outdoor table is brilliant 5. Your storage just keeps going on and on 6. The overall vintage look + functionality is just perfect ❤👏

This looks a lot like the same base van(but not as old) as the one Explorer Buddies used for their conversion. Theirs has a different hitop and they built the whole inside themselves with a rear bed. Yours takes better advantage of the space but your interior doesn’t have the eclectic vibe going on. Both have stood the test of time and I congratulate you on your version Personally I have an ‘84 VW Vanagon Westfalia that I use on three or four day visits to parks around Tennessee where I live. No hot water, no bathroom but at 73, it’s what I need. No multi week excursions because I like parks but I like my little cabin home in the Smokey Mountains too. Waiting for this pandemic thing to be over so I can get out again. Happy travels Jits. Glad I found your channel.

I immediately liked because I think I spotted a first aid kit. Something seldom seen/mentioned in van tours. Where am I at? I'm looking at various setups for inspiration. Great video!😀 I just have two questions, you mentioned the water tank is split into two partitions, hot and cold, does this mean you have 30L of each?
