I recently purchased both the red flip and smart 3 by phone. They have a promotion on now of 70% off with no activation fee and free shipping. I got my phones in 2 days. I love both phones. It is true that they are easy to learn to use and they come with INSTRUCTION books. They have loud clear speakers and are a pleasure to use compared to other phones I have used. I recommend their use. I am an 80 year old first time smart phone user.

I'm a android user. I live in a different state than my elderly father. Currently he has a iPhone8, previously he had an android phone. When that iphone8 released best buy pushed him into the purchase and we always have an issue directing him to the apps, I was pretty upset. I can't stand when people take advantage of the elderly. Do you think that the jitterbug would be simpler for him? Easier for me to help him remotely? I believe that I could install extra apps remotely. Thank you

Looking at this for my parents. Can you charge the Jitterbug 4 wirelessly, or do you have to just plug it in?

Unfortunately, this phone does not support wireless charging. However, if you're concerned about your parents being able to plug the phone in, we'd recommend using a wireless charging receiver. These devices plug into the USB-C port on the phone and allow it to charge on wireless charging docks. Can the "urgent response" be lowered to the bottom or hidden? Thinking about getting this for my grandparent. Their state of mind and heath is good, so this particular feature would definitely be patronizing. They simply want a easy to navigate phone.

Unfortunately the button can’t be hidden; however, you can disable the feature, so when the button is pressed, no emergency call is placed.

@@Theseniorlist that's a huge plus. My mum was calling emergency several times a week, so her phone was confiscated. The nursing home doesn't need that kind of drama.

For text messaging, is the font larger than on a 'normal' android phone ?

Did you know that on a normal android phone, in the text/messaging app, you can put 2 fingers on the screen and spread them apart (while still touching) to instantly make the font larger? And you can (or have your kids) go into the phone settings and enlarge the default font on everything.

Yes, you can, but you'll need to use a third-party app like WhatsApp or Google Meet, as FaceTime (the app) is not available on Android phones.

I switched from a flip To the Smart 4 both Jitterbug. I called to start and was told all info would be moved over in about 30 mins. didn't happen. I cant even get started to use. I'm 82 and having a rough time getting anything to work. where do I get help ?

Maybe try to go to a best buy store. They sell them, so hopefully they could help you fix the problem. I'm not sure though. It's just an idea

@@brendawiener2630 I agree we make so many allowances for people especially Spanish Mexican. Any other country you either learn the language or that's it because there's no labels in English and Spanish you either learn it or you're out a luck. Our country here is so wimpy we cater to all these peoples languages special allowances I'm sick of it.

To whom it may concern, Aloha, I was wondering if the Jitter Bug Phone's have any problem with virus??? Because every time I get a new phone, the viruses will be the first thing comes out, before the phone dies out. And if it does have the viruses, are we supposed to take care of the problem or do you take care of the problem ??? Let me know about this problem soon as possible. Did you mean to say reordered? If so, then yes! You can change the order of the menu items as well as add/remove menu options as you see fit.

Thank you for the high level review. I am hoping to find more use cases of getting around in high tech world: 1) scanning bar codes for menus and programs 2) texting options with optional apps as Telegram, Whatsapp or Messenger 3) email interface 4) calendar interface

You can get a better phone unlocked and a lot cheaper service and be ahead at the end of a year especially if you are a heavy data user

Can you explain more of what your saying? My father is 79. Struggles with the cheap android phones. He needs a jitterbug. But he uses a ton of data bc he travels and lives in an RV type thing

If you're able to put an address in a phone, it sounds like you're ready for a more advanced phone. My Dad can't even figure out how to get into contacts on a regular smartphone. I am more interested in an easy to use interface and simplistic use for seniors without any tech savvy.

We put the addresses in the "notes". It works just fine.

@@CBB1981 Not necessarily. Most seniors have navigational issues, but once in the desired location, would like features available that they would typically find in their old Address/Telephone Books/Rolodex/Ledgers that were hand written. An address feature under contacts is something that could be used or skipped (user preference dependent), but I have found that most elders find crossover/transition to smart phones easier when the virtual/digital features more closely mimic the vintage Phone/Address Ledgers/Notebooks (Name, Phone, Address) features/layout that they are accustomed to. 🙂
