Say what you want JJ Dillon is an iconic character in wrestling history. If I ran the Hall of Fame he would definitely be in mine

i saw a tag team match as a kid JJ "Jim" Dillon and Harley Race vs Dick Murdock and Terry Funk in Texas back in the 70s (yes I am old) I have never forgotten that 5 star match.

Very candid interview. JJ -- as usual -- was very articulate and filled in lots of details that are easy to gloss over. When JCP first started airing here in Philly in late 1984, he was manager of the Long Riders (Ron Bass & Black Bart) and was sensational, wearing his suit and ruffled shirts!

Crockett Promotions was and is a better wrestling product than the WWF/WWE will ever be. When allot of the wrestlers went over to the WWF, I saw their characters as a watered-down version of what they were in Jim Crockett promotions.

What a great and nice fella. I met Jim at Charlotte Fanfest when he saw my Bob Dylan t-shirt he came over and we talked about Dylan, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart and also Killer Karl Kox and Ciclon Negro. It made my day and really made a huge impression on me and at the time I was probably 50 years old. I even reminded him of when he fought Gary Hart and Kox in Texas.

I love watching JJ's promos. He was so smug and it really fit his entire profile.

Crockett had the best wrestling and JJ was an integral part of that. Saturdays at 3:05 PT was usually the highlight of the day.

I remember as a kid reading the Magazines I saw a photo of Ric Flair , Greg Valentine , John Studd and Ken Patera all sitting together backstage . The caption was stating “ Are we seeing a faction forming ?” To me they were a proto Horsemen . I don’t think they ever really became a group all working the same angle though. Can you imagine how they would have dominated had they thought to officially babd together ?

JJ's promos were real and believable. I loved his work with the Horsemen. I'll never forget discovering world championship wrestling on tbs on Sat nights at 6:05. Incredible time to be a wrestling fan

Don't think I am a prude, but I find it refreshing being a lifelong wrestling fan to hear an interview that is not loaded with profanity and filth. J.J. speaks so intelligently and elegantly. I was a HUGE Four Horsemen fan, too.

Two of the best professional wrestling books are JJ's and Ole's. Great reads.

He had great runs in west Texas and Dallas/Ft Worth area co managing with Gary Hart & Fritz . He’s a tremendous storyteller. Has done it all in pro wrestling.

Nikita Koloff was/is my favorite wrestler, and I really enjoyed his interactions with J.J., either him nailing him when he'd come up on the ring apron, or J.J. nailing Nik with his shoe outside the ring! He could really play it up and sell it. He looks in better shape here than he did back in the day!

When Dillon discusses the parking lot attack and says how horrified David & Tony sounded announcing it. What they were horrified was, that I saw it on World Wide Wrestling. The intro shows Dillon in car telling camera man to cover it, no matters what he sees. BUT when the WWW intro song was done, David & Tony bring up that Magnum TA was in a car accident. So I was thinking the car accident is on video. Nikita's face turn and cage match between Dusty & Nikita vs Ole & JJ is shown. Then the parking alot attack on Dusty is shown.

Dusty Rhodes admits on another shoot interview that he never thought about using "celebrities" promoting thru MTV or Tonight Show, etc. I also believe he failed investing properly back into JCP. They did spend too much on buying Watts UWF, the airplanes. BUT MORE SO his competing with Flair on out buying one another on clothing, jewels as well as all the wrestlers buying high priced cars. Vince Jr invested on the WWF, the company itself let alone promote to expand world wide let alone national.

I grew up watching the 4 horsemen in the NWA. Rick Flair Tully Blanchard Ole and Arn Anderson. We're heels that you believed in. Which in turn made the babyfaces. But back in the day to me. Was just the good guys and bad guys. Dusty Ricky Morton Robert Gibson Magnum TA. Kept that thing going as good as it did.

For got JJ was just as important to that roster as anyone.

JJ was so greedy expecting The Total Package would just go over the top rope so he could win the bunk house. That came back to bite him in the ass.

I found JJ Dillon on you tube jobbing out for The Sheik's Detroit promotion circa 1969. Pretty cool stuff. He talks about Detroit and Charlotte territories fondly. These are my first two I got to watch on tv. I was born in 1960 growing up in the Huntington WV, Ashland Ky, and Ironton, OH area.

JJ Dullon is too cagey to be a good subject for an exposé of the underpinnings of the Kayfabe era . His interest is in protecting his connections in the business

I woud've loved to see JJ paired with a Curt Hennig or Ric Rude in the WWF and have them go after the World title.
