jj is a very complex character, he gets abused by his father who’s a drunk, his mom is absent, he can be dumb at times, he has a wild side, but he would do anything for his friends and the actor who plays jj plays him so well

JJ’s character reminds me a lot of Justin from 13 Reasons Why. They both have abusive father figures, and are hooked onto drugs but you can tell they are trying to be better people. And you can’t help but love them for that.

The only thing we’ve seen JJ do is pot. Assuming you’re American, I know you probably hear a lot about how “bad” pot is, it’s a gateway drug, etc. It’s not really true. They all seem to smoke pot in Outer Banks, and that’s pretty normal. It’s not much different than how they drink beer even though they’re underage. In Canada pot is legal just like alcohol. You can go into stores and buy it, order it online, etc. It’s just like alcohol. It’s not a big deal. Pot is actually less addictive than alcohol. Justin was addicted to black tar heroin and later started taking Oxy. Those are serious, addicting, life ruining drugs, one of which is a prescription medication (opiates, which are prescription drugs, are actually causing the current large drug problem in America). Two totally different situations. Don’t equate a kid who smokes some pot with a kid who has serious drug problems.

I actually love him. I feel so bad for him. He’s been through so much and he’s always there for his friends even if it doesn’t look like it. Every time he and his dad would fight I would always tear up. He’s the only character I’ve ever been emotionally attached too😭😢

I always liked his character and not only bc i thought he was attractive. I liked how even through his hardest times he tries to stick up for and take care of his friends. It really hurt my heart to watch the scenes where he was being abused or hurt. Rudy Pankow did a great job portraying this character and I’m glad he was able to show JJ’s pain. Overall this character is really great.

At first I thought he was a bit childish ( nothing wrong with being a bit childish. We all are at some point in our lives ) but then he grew on me and now I can’t help but love him. He cares so much about his friends and he’s so loyal no matter what the situation is. This character really touched my heart. ❤️

Rudy is such an amazing actor!! his delivery on every line whether it's funny, or scared, or angry. he delivers and it's amazing. JJ is my favorite character. I'd literally die for him. he loves his friends. he stuck up for everyone of them when they needed it. he has an abusive father! he's doing weed to feel better about himself. yet he's still there for his friends, his real family. I've seen a lot of jj compilation videos and the comments are 50% "he's so hot" and 50% "I just feel so bad for him I wanna give him a hug" Listen, there are many, many people out there who have it like jj and worse. You know, the kid in your class, we all know them. They struggle at home, with their parent, not to get gross but even pimps. I know you are in quarantine and can't hug them, but call them. Now. Kie was about to cut herself then Sarah called. Reach out to them. The reason why this show is such a big hit because it is so relatable, like jj. Stop watching youtube for a second and call them, you could really help them out right now.
