Shaq was 100% more dominant than Dwight but the thought of Dwight being seen as Superman, kinda throwing Shaq away like he never happened (to Shaq) made Shaq almost despise Dwight. To Shaq, there could only be one Superman.

Shaq was sensitive. Still is. Shaq's call out on Dwight was unwarranted. Dwight was a beast in Orlando. Absolute beast. People forget. Dwight played 8 years for the Magic. By the time he made it to the Lakers, he was already worn out, back injuries, and arguably no longer in his prime. At least not peak prime.

I knew old heads like Shaq and there really is this manipulative mentality they have where they test your resolve by hitting you with “negativity” just to see how you respond. If it pushes you to prove them wrong then they’ll respect you, and if you get emotional or run from the challenge then they just figure you’re not cut from their cloth. It’s not about hate or jealousy to them it’s like them trying to initiate you into a fraternity but they have to make sure you’re worthy. These days that doesn’t really fly and gets called toxic and all of that but it’s a real thing that happens.

Shaq likes to use that word "marketing" a lot now. Him and Kobe didn't have beef. That was just marketing. Shaq made up that story about David Robinson snubbing him for an autograph when he was 15 and feuded throughout their careers based on that lie. The media (and myself included) fell for it. He wrote books based on that lie. That ain't cool man. He finally admitted to coming clean. Why is marketing so important? What about integrity?

Honestly I think Shaq should not shoot down Chuck whenever championships are brought up. Chuck LOST in the finals, so of all people Chuck knows exactly what he did wrong (or things that he should have done differently) because of those losses. Chuck has added to the championship discussions because he knows what it's like on the losing side

Plus by Shaq's logic, any team, coach, or player who manages to win a championship for the first time would have won only by getting lucky since, again, by Shaq's logic, they wouldn't know how to win a championship since they wouldn't have won one yet.

@@BloopyBloop-gs1toMost normal people reflect on this thought process and corrects it at some point, especially when its literally the goal of your career. Meanwhile 50+ year old Shaq still telling make-belive stories to himself and others that allows for emotions to get in the way of growing up. Same thing why he never tried fixing his Free Throw form with any form he thought was feminine/embarrassing. He instead would rather score significantly less points, and then post-career get incredibly upset about not passing Wilt in scoring by a thin margin. As if this guy didn't have dozens of people over the course of his career advising him too, just a wild ego

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would criticize Shaq harshly, and alot of people didn’t like it. But Kareem also saw Shaq’s potential, and wanted him to use the criticism as motivation to reach it. Shaq I believe at times was annoyed by Dwight, for example it’s been well documented how he didn’t like Dwight using the Superman gimmick like he did, and then criticized him out of frustration. But Shaq is also on record for saying during an epsiode of Inside the NBA that he saw alot of himself in Dwight, and then criticized him out of dissapointment because he didn’t think Dwight’s attitude was in the right place, and felt he was making some of the same mistakes he made in his career. All in all it would be nice to see those two shake hands someday.
