Our guest this week on The Old Man and The Three is All-NBA player and star for The Chicago Bulls, DeMar DeRozan. His first appearance on the pod was special and this one might be even better. The topics include his love of pick-up basketball, playing in The Drew League with LeBron James, his free agency prior to joining The Chicago Bulls, how certain he felt that he would be a member of The Los Angeles Lakers, his experience in San Antonio which included learning and growing as a basketball player but doubting his relevance in the league, what he learned from Gregg Popovich, the continued trend of player empowerment, his admiration for Giannis Antetokounmpo, why he loves playing with Zach LaVine, what he expects out of The Chicago Bulls in a very competitive Eastern Conference, his growth and experience as a mental health advocate in The NBA, and so much more.
We have a lot of great conversations dropping soon so be sure to subscribe to The Old Man and The Three wherever you get your podcasts to be notified when new episodes drop.

DeMar hitting back-to-back game winners is a special moment in NBA history not only because it’s never been done before, it’s also because it was done in two separate years, on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. One of those silly insane stats. Not to mention both were tough contested shots with very small windows. My favorite moment of last season.

Also he had his crazy run in February that set the all time record for most games in a row with 35+ points on 50%+ shooting. That stretch along with the back to back buzzer beaters was more entertaining than most of the playoffs, that was 90% blowouts lol

The Soccer comment makes sense. Here in Toronto, the coaches from both Raptors and Maple Leafs often listen in or join in on each other practices. The Maple Leaf Coaches would use Basketball practices to get a better idea of floor spacing and apply that to their game plan. And many of the NBA players who have good footwork, are the ones who played soccer.
